Spider Mines (bug no damage)

Hello,

I created a map where are several spider mines placed
Now if you come to close with your unit (s), they will explode
The spider mines are not acting like they normally do by coming out the ground and run to you
They are just are above the ground where you can see them, the only thing is you may not come to close

So what I did:

- I made a (circle) region arround every spider mine
- a trigger that tells to kill the spider mine AND the triggering unit which enters the region
- I gave the spider mine the 'viking_death' animation

Question:

- Why does the spider mines no damage when they explode?
- How can I program this?

it may be the death animation, the damage may be linked to the normal death animation or something because if i am correct they explode when they die no matter what, so that could be it >.>

Spider mines can be killed without exploding. When a spider mine uses it weapon, it explodes and cause damage to itself which results in the unit being killed.

The best of way of doing this is completely via the data editor and not by triggers. You need to create a new effect of the type Search Area. Edit the Search: Areas + property and and add a new search area. Set the Arc to 360, Radius to the radius of the regions you have placed around your spider mines, and Effect to Vulture - Spider Mines (Set). Now edit the Search: Exclude+ property and add Source. You may also want to edit the Search: Search Filters property to change which units the spider mine will blow up for when they come within range.

Now create a new behaviour of the type Buff and set the Effect: Effect - Periodic property to the Search Area effect you just created. Edit the Stats: Period property and set it to 0.2. Now all you need to do is give your spider mines this new behaviour and they will blow up automatically (and deal damage) when a unit which matches the Target Filters on the Search Area effect comes within range.

wow, a whole story for such a small thing?

I see your explanation I must make 2 search effects am I right?

You need to create 1 search effect, and 1 buff (behaviour).

If you're after a simpler explanation, you need to attach a buff to your spider mines which periodically searches for nearby targets and use the damage effect of their weapon if a target is found.

It will. The behaviour just keeps searching to determine when a unit comes in range. When that happens, the spider mine will explode.

    Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though

    I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work

    Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm

    So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man

    I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.

    Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart

    Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
