After barely two months of complete inactivity, here it, finally, comes:

Tales from the North

a 3v3 (heavily) altered melee map that should never have been.

How to win:
Dead simple, as usual, destroy the Town Halls of the opposing team.

Obviously, you should protect yours.

Build a base, train troops, go deal major damage.

As usual, you may add a computer player.
They aren't exactly great, but they aren't that bad either.

Q: How do I win?
A: Destroy all Town Halls owned by the enemy team

Q: I was defeated but stayed in the game
A: Works as designed

Q: After defeat, my Commander was still there, and even revived???
A: Works as designed

Q: I don't get those items
A: Any three of the basic five items will combine. Good luck.

Q: What are those Night Elf for? They lose fast anyway
A: Experience? Training? Activity? Annoyance?

Q: How did you get those Heroes to actually die?
A: Have a look

Q: Oh man, you forgot to protect your map
A: No, I didn't

Q: There's still some "init" triggers that 1. aren't in JASS, 2. have some leaks
A: Yes

Q: Yeah, all JASS, this map ownz
A: see previous answer

Q: The comps are too strong
A: Play some more

Q: The comps are too weak
A: Get some people. Or less comps

Q: I just looked at that tree over there, and the game crashed???
A: What tree was that?

Q: Seriously, it crashed!
A: What's the last thing you did?

Q: I don't get Gold fast enough
A: Maybe, it's the same though for everybody

Q: I found a shop that sells... Lumber?
A: Buy some

Q: Ok, so, basically, I should play the map and ask questions later?
A: Yes

Wow. I just learned how badly I suck at that game. I thought I would do decent... But I lasted around 40 minutes before Night Elves finished me off :p

As always, you have turned out a good map.

Have a good one!

When you are ready you should upload it to the map database and let me link it under MVP Maps.

Victory is mine!
Alright everyone, troll warlords are so under rated!

Anywho, I won on my second try. One bug I spotted, I happen to have a troll warlord sitting in my base who ALMOST or maybe did, hit level 7 of 5. Just maybe defeats the purpose of level caps. :)
I have attached my replay so that you can see what I mean. Good job on the map. I give it 5/5.

Very nice map. I've hosted it a few times, and most people agree. It's balanced very well, and I particularly like the way all of your units can level up and get better, including the periodic increases to attack and armor of the different unit groups. Another grand map arrives on the scene!

> Beware of the Night Elves

Hm... :p

> need allies though

Yep.
Like I said, comps aren't the greatest, but they do their job.

> hit level 7 of 5

Some weird race condition I guess...

On a related note, I like replays. Doesn't matter how badly you (got) owned. Especially multi-player.

> most people agree

What did those say that didn't?

Lol, anyways, I think you should improve the computer AI. I really like the map, but I'm not allowed on BNet, and I couldn't host it if I was. Love your map very very much.

Wasn't that they didn't agree, they just didn't say anything at all. :p

I played this another time, and I noticed a few things about the game. Played as made, I know, but it surprised me :p

The thing that was weird is how I won. I mean, at the start I was doing good ( Epic battles between me and Night Elf  ), and I probably coulda killed them if I had pressed one of my earlier attacks (And if I had I probably wouldn't have won the whole game, actually :p).

The reason being is that all of a sudden, I won the game. I watched the replay and noticed that Brown (Guardians) and Dark Green (Sentinels) teamed up and killed both the players of the other teams (Computers). Thats weird, I didn't even have to attack them :p

All the same it's a great map, but for me level 10 heroes and Mountain Giants are my undoing  I guess I should utilize the Commander better, and not let the Night Elves build up to get their Mountain Giants.

So, theres my tip to everyone. Beware of the "Weak" Night Elves  ;)

Heres my replay (I believe I saved map in my Downloads Folder under the default name you made).

Great map, and have a good one.

P.S.

Got some example?

> teamed up and killed both the players of the other teams (Computers)

:D

That's part of the game.

There's Creeps that just sit around. Well, your usual Creeps... we have seen them.
If you want to kill a couple or two, you can do so.
If not, you just ignore them.
They are there if you need them.
Which is good.

There's the Weaklings.
Early on, well... that Footman they send will simply die on your first tower.
Free Gold, free experience (if you have a Hero nearby).
Though, they do bring some life into the map as they are actively moving around.
I don't like maps where nothing happens.
Half an hour into the game, that same Footman will still be there.
Only, around now he has 500 hitpoints.
And brings a Mortar Team.
Or even a Knight or two.
Or some casting support.
If the game drags on, those Weaklings may just become an actual challenge.
Which is good.

There's the Night Elves.
They build more or less normally.
But, of course, once they have three Heroes, all at level 10...
They too are there to bring some activity into the map.
And some Gold and experience.
Now... they do become stronger over time...
Which is good.

waaaks!

played again, another stale mate :(

I think what the problem is that the game starts of so friggin fast, and I get attacked in a matter of minutes, and am constantly trying to ward off attackers or mount counter attacks, that there is no down time for me to sit and read everything and get a feel for it all

that and being as I am always getting attacked at no less then 3 different places all at once, while trying to build my base, build more units, and micro my huge army, that I tend to get overwhelmed at times :(

I guess that is where allies would definetly help :)

Indeed.
Anyone ever so much as seen, for example, the fabulous Treasure Map item?

Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
