Another potential option would be to start mass-visiting other, but "lower" obviously, cities, and leave a comment like "Hey, visit us". With any luck they "reply" back...

If someone had to do more than just push a button to do it all that would be too much. Machines have no morals.

Why steal? Writing an auto-visitor is trivial. Making it post a little message while it's at it isn't much more difficult, as long as you don't spam too much (you may run into "ISP acceptable use policy" trouble though).

From what I've heard, it takes 5 lines of code to break/solve that "captcha" with 100% accuracy. So, you can't consider it a real protection against spammers. If there's a real challenge to overcome, then it's the rate limiting, as the code isn't readily available because done on the server side.

What's the worst that could happen:

• The city being deleted because of abuse?
• The spamming IPs being blacklisted?
• Trouble with your ISP?

EDIT: The code isn't always 4 characters.
