Laptop screen help

My laptops screen has been bugging up lately, (It freezes and all the colors become screwed up) so I have taken to using a normal moniter plugged into my laptop, however whist using this new arrangement an options box popped up, and I must've accidentally clicked on the wrong setting, now the display only happens in one of my screens, which is anyoing cause it usual appears in the laptop screen, which as I said before, doesn't work.
I am using a windows 2000XP, and I do not want to get suggestions like, Get anew computer.

You're only getting visuals on one screen? Go into properties --> settings. Check that out, and upgrade to XP. I don't think theres a 2k/XP. >.>
