This isn't the greatest tutorial ever, and I wrote it in my spare time cus I was bored Don't be afraid to tell me it sucks, I know.
Clickish.
Or just read this :
1. Type of Map, and other info
The first thing you want to do is decide what type of map you want to make (AoS, TD, RPG, ORPG, ect.), and if it will be multiplayer. You might even try to make a hybrid of something (TD-RPG ).
2. Research
Lets say your making a Maze. Download other mazes and think of ways to make your maze unique (Like custom tilesets and skins, shops to buy Boots of Speed, ect.). (If your making a TD-RPG then you already have your ‘uniqueness’ )
3. Format
Plan out your terrain, units, heroes, ect. in Photoshop, Paint, or just draw it out before you go crazy in the World Editor.
It makes things look nice
4. Rough Map
Begin mapping the basic land features like mountains, rivers, hills, ect. and create your units and heroes. Import any custom skins, models, icons, and spells you plan to use in your map.
5. Details
Find some decent terraining tutorials and start adding details to your map. Don’t forget things like fog, sky, and other weather effects. Using some sounds also makes things look more professional.
Well, this wasn’t a very good ‘tutorial,’ but I still hoped it helped you in some way
