Gaming Call of Duty “has almost ruined a generation of shooter players,” says Tripwire Interactive

Let's try to come to an agreement; Has anything good come out of Activision-Blizzard?

Blizzard is still able to make games without going bankrupt? I dont know, if activision was able to buy blizzard it means blizzard wasnt all that powerful back then. It could have easily been bought by some other company. EA maybe. Just imagine that. You have to buy the new HotS units for real world money and you can use them in WoL and own everybody.

You forgot to mention that they only last 24 hours of gameplay or 30 days, whether you play or not.

I don't agree, BLR is pay to win. The best equipment perks, etc. come from paying for them. Plus all levels generally face each other, lvl 40s vs lvl 11s. It doesn't improve multiplayer experience if only a few dominate everyone thanks to their gear

I never spent a single cent and usually am on top the leaderboards.

Well, yes, but it's the mentality behind the making of their games that sucks.

I mean, every single "value" you can get within the game, you paid every cent of it. Every map, every campaign, every story arc, every feature, you have to pay for it. Some of it come along with the game, and then DLCs, expansions, name it, come and you have to pay for every inch of additional/special content.

Also the fact that their storylines are now very standardized, simplified, and appealing to the masses. Annoying as well.

There is alot of new content which was created for wc3 and sc2 over time and you didnt have to pay for.
All those patches, balance changes, improvements on the editor, custom maps made by blizzard, etc.

Also; they are working on a free to play online card game called heartstone. (or something like that)

What content? Minor editor fixes for wc3? I hardly call that content. Maybe a couple maps, all made by users, which Blizzard just added to the game. Took about 1 hour of an employee's work.

As far as SC2 is concerned, the official maps they release are supposedly made by people outside of blizzard, the custom games are made by people as well. I can't remember any other content they have added to the game apart from changing the way the leagues work, and balance patches (which are required for a competitive game).

edit: anyhow, let's say that they did release free content at some point. Maybe they did, but it doesn't change the fact that the CEO of the company said himself, that he would wish for everything in a game to be worth something, and that if he could, he would make even Call of Duty on a monthly subscription.

It's their wish, their mentality, and it's very apparent into the way they are making their games.

Well they are a company after all and they have to make money.
There isnt many companies i know which just give away games for free.
In my opinion Blizzard is still one of the better ones, if you think about many other games which hardly get any patches or content added even after months or years maybe you can look at blizzard in a different way.

Now a days they deliver large content to a larger group of people. at least

don't forget that WC3 has advertisements on B.net, so essentially you are still "paying" them via attention to ads, for hosting/etc.

I feel like D2 had major changes made to the game with the addition of the psynergy system, and that was free. Just thought I'd point that out.
