I just put in my pre-order/pre-download (a whole 2 days in advance). Game looks sick can't wait to give it a run on Monday, luckily I have that day off. From what I can see it looks like a Borderlands meets Left 4 Dead kind of game.

If you have steam or plan on buying it for the PC look me up, I'd love to play with some TH buddies.

So I was playing Dead Island earlier and I came across this zombie, so I chopped his head off instinctively, but... this one was different. As the camera slowed down and his head spun around into view I thought to myself "man, he sure is ugly." Then I realized that he probably had a family that loved him before the apocalypse hit. Maybe he had just saved up enough money after working in the coal mines for 15 years to take his wife and two kids out too a beautiful island for the summer, unaware of what was to come. Maybe he even had dog and collected stamps, he probably donated to worthy charities and was part of the neighborhood watch... Sadly, I had to turn the game off after this, I couldn't bear to think of the sad reality... that and I was pissed because I over threw my epic knife into some bushes and lost it.... I should probably get some sleep...


If you're a zombie fan or if you enjoy Borderlands I highly suggest this game. The characters all have their own traits and abilities that make them very unique. Logan is good at throwing weapons and has abilities that make him better as he drinks. Sam is good with his fists and blunt weapons as well, he also has the highest health of any of the characters. Xian is an expert with swords and sharp weapons, while Purna is skilled with fire arms and provides support to the other players with her traits. I haven't had the opportunity to play online with others yet, but I've heard that's where the game really shines. The mods are very well done and while the amount of weapons isn't nearly as vast as you'd find in Borderlands or Diablo there is still a large variation, bear in mind I've yet to finish the first act and I'm only level 10 though.

Once the hype wears off, in a week or two, I'll come back and post an update on whether I think the game is still as fun then as it is now.

How is it compared to the Left 4 Dead and/or other similar zombie type games?

The reason I didn't mention L4D is that beyond having zombies there isn't too many similarities. The game features a lot of RPG elements that you would find in Diablo or Borderlands. The survival part of it takes back seat, although this could change. I think online it might feel more like L4D, but I'd still say that Borderlands is the closest thing to it. Also, the game's perspective is pretty awesome, it features a very loose FPS screen like in mirrors edge; as you run the camera sways, when knocked back you'll see your guys arms fly in front of you then you start to pull yourself together and push yourself off the floor. There are three Zombies I've encountered so far. Thugs are brutes that take a lot of damage to go down, there slow moving but can knock you pretty far if they hit you. Then there's the slow walkers and the fast, but weak, Infected that will scream and charge at you. I've heard tales of an "exploder" and something that has vomit, also there is a charger as well.

One thing I like about this game is the vehicles. The camera's a bit hard to get used to, as it's an extremely smoothed fix location camera, meaning looking around is pretty slow. The shattering glass is another nice touch if you get hit a bit hard.

One thing I hate though is the instant kill glitch. I've had it rarely, yet 3-4 times now I've died instantly to an infected when I had full health.
