Lumos v1.00c

Combat with up to 10 players in this mini arena battle royal.

The Premise:

Little blue orbs bounce around the arena, Devouring(tm) these orbs restores your mana. The longer the Lumos bounce around, the smaller they get, and less mana they restore when devoured.

Once you have sufficient mana you can cast your other three spells, with the intent of destroying all other Spirit Walkers in the map.

If you die before the round is over, a Ghost Walker is created for you, which you can use to disrupt the other Spirit Walkers still battling.

Once time has run out or only one Spirit Walker remains, the round ends, and all those who have survived receive a point.

First to five points wins.

  • Once and for all killed the item spawn bug
  • Spirit Walkers are now heroes, and Ghosts show worker icons
  • Discharge made more formiddable: Increased release speed, target radius and missile speed
  • Changed some of the game related interface
  • Removed Status column from multiboard; Icons now convey the information

v1.00b
  • Reworked killing and assists bounty, added End Round Bounty
  • Changed Multiboard State display for players who leave
  • Added a new Resistance Lumos
  • Hopefully fixed the random item spawning bug
  • Now refreshes cooldowns and sets mana to 100 after shopping
  • Discharge now creates missiles correctly around the caster after being pulled by a Lasso
  • 2 New Commands : -dp and -rp
  • Fixed a rare and a massive Devour bug
  • Reduced Devour cooldown (5-3s)
  • Reduced Cataclysm and Discharge cooldowns (30-25s)
  • Tooltips now contain cooldown durations

  • Discharge deals more damage (25-30)
  • Lasso lightning height bug fixed
  • TextTags are now only shown to the correct owning player
  • Players recieve gold for kills and assists
  • Assists are now displayed as messages and in the Multiboard
  • Items and a Shopping Time added between rounds
  • Added a new Invisbility Lumos
  • 2 New Commands: -ms and -pb

v.01g
  • Fixed a rare Cataclysm bug
  • Fixed a camera issue when ghosts were created
  • Even more Lumos!!! (Thanks Acehart)
  • Cataclysms distance dependent damage increased

v.01f
  • Reworked how Ghosts are spawned
  • Lumos are created twice as often (1/3s - 1/1.5s)
  • Remade Haste (Thanks Fulla)
  • Now allows for 10 players at once
  • Devour no longer goes into cd if you don't catch any Lumos - Increased cd to 5s from 2s
  • Fixed the Dialog bug
  • Added a new Enhanced Damage Lumos (Thanks Fulla)
  • Cataclysm's damage is now also dependant upon distance from caster

  • Changed the way Lumos are absorbed (Aesthetics)
  • New Devour effect
  • Revamped Arena Terrain (Thanks Acehart)

  • Permanent Invisibilty icon switched to passive
  • Slightly increased the AoE target from Devour (450-475)

  • Full vision over arena
  • Heroes now have faster movement speed (300-325)

btw, there must be some sort of split at beginning of first match - because everyone else got kicked right then - so as it stands, im thinking this is unplayable ^^

i like the whole decouring of the light thing, although it would be cool if there where more lights boucneing around (tred in singleplayer)

and if you miss your devour spell make the caster eat dirt lol i mean he is devouring somethign right? either lights or the dirt XD (breifly stunning the caster)

overall i like it makes a great arcade game

I see that your are a talented programmer but you do not have enough the time to polish your maps....I will try it and give you some feedback.

Finally, I have WC available for now, so I'm trying it out!

EDIT: Ok, finished teh game! It was awesome. :D I got like 300 mana in 1 devour because 2 of them spawned at same time :). The terraining is pretty nice, maybe you could add some blocking stuff so people need more "dodging" and controlled movement.

Shouldn't they be homing in at ground level when caught?

Extra move speed doesn't last long enough.

There's not enough Lumos for my taste.

Lasso? What lasso?

they should - I assumed SetUnitFlyHeight(unit,30.,.1) would get em down to the correct level - doesnt seem to be working as planned though

or perhaps the ms bonus just isnt fast enough....

more Lumos.... :) - you really want to push my projectile system huh?

Guess you haven't played with anyone else yet and died.....its a neat ability - perhaps we can play today :)

I enabled some "Heroes" for comps...
But there's just too many places where you pointlessly check if they are human, and I didn't feel like rewriting half the map's code.

So, no, never died :p

Well, you clearly notice the difference.
But, I used it to catch more Lumos faster... nice try I guess.
10 seconds just doesn't cut it.

Maybe that's not the time you're supposed to use it?


The fly rate, by the way, is the steps per second...

id use it when trying to catch Lumos and when try to dodge incoming missiles

fly rate..... well 0. is "instant" - maybe I'll try.....500. or so, see if that works out

FWIW, I was running some quick&dirty "jumping balls" test here.

At about 250 on the map, you notice first lag when scrolling the map.
At about 500 it gets evil.
At 800+ the comp basically freezes :p

Conclusion:
Should be no problem to get much more Lumos happily jumping around.
