i really get annoyed on some post with very large pics...like u need to scroll to the left and right before you can see other messages

i suggest resize any pics posted to fit the message box....
or make a scroll bar for that pic only, just like codes in GUI, like this

also for the location, some members put very long sentences in their locations, that may able to widen up the message board...until you cannot see some remaining message because the messages also widen up, that means you need to scroll to right and left again, just to read the post

Of course, the easiest thing to do would be to simply disable IMG tags....

But I think that we could create our own custom IMG tag that uses a scroll box if the image is too large.
Sounds like something DDRtists or Phyrexian could do.

EDIT: For the locations, I think it's a simple setting change to restrict the number of characters allowed.

As for the images, do remember that people have different screen resolutions. I would imagine that something that would take up the entire screen on an 800x600 resolution would not take up so much on a higher resolution.

Also, having it in a scroll box thing can be very annoying. But, you do raise a point. Whatever your reasons may be, as long as as it is more convenient than the overall inconvenience, than go right ahead.

That really has nothing to do with it. I think Rin even posted the beginnings of his code on GH.net. Obviously it's not a big secret, so I don't see the harm in simply asking for it, or for some advice. I highly doubt he or Ace are so immature they cannot be civil to one another.

Yep, there is one indeed.
No one ever set it to something lower.
I recommend 50.

And, spoiler tags are called spoiler tags because they are supposed to be used in the "Movies" (and related) forum.
They were added precisely for that reason actually...
Now look at those poor things, used and abused for anything and the kitchen sink.

Yes Hide tags look better because you can't see the box under the button

but the glitch is if you open the hide tag all youtube videos and images reload (That aren't in the hide tags and on the same post...) If there not on the same post the Videos and the Hide it won't reload it will jsut keep playing

true but there should be a limit then if its too big then you put it in a Spoiler Tag or some type but if normal images that are small shouldn't have hide tags

Just do something like if the img height is bigger than the window height or if the img width is wider than the window width it resizes the image (proportionally) and links it to open the image link in a different window/tab.

I remember back when I was a little noobling, I had the full address of my house in the location tab, right up to "Northern Hemisphere" and through "Solar System" up to "The universe". It expanded the forums more than any image could I think it was Ace or someone who told me to change it.

But yeah, 50 therefore sounds like a suitable limit for location, or 75 at most.

The thing that bothers me about locations is nobody really uses them as locations. If anything they are mainly used for an alternate "Custom User Title". Not to put anyone down for their location but "Hack 192.0.0.1 PLZ", "IM BEHIND YOU", "LOL IM NOWHERE".

Really, if you dont use a location tab it doesnt even appear . Of course its not my choice but thats my opinion.

It would be nice if they were like facepunch forums (Garrys mod default forums), where the "spoiler" tag wasnt a box at all. It set the background of the text black, and the text black, and when you click on the text the text turns white revealing the 'spoiler'. It took up no extra room and was pretty straightforward to use.

I don't mind the spoiler tags though. It would be nice if they didnt say "SPOILER!" but I guess its the best term for the option... Unless you use Hide/Show, but thats kind of iffy


As for the image tags, I'm sure its been suggested before... if not I'm sure i'm not the only one who thinks about it every time you see someones desktop screenshot etc. One of the easiest/best ways to do it would just use the default scaling tag:

You could also use Javascript or something so instead of linking to the image directly it simply expands the image to its true dimensions.

Misusing it is perfectly normal sight.
