Same Abilitys Conflicting

Well i have 2 abilities

The first one is Prone and the second is Sprint. they both were originally the Defend ability just modified.. so i gave my hero both of the abilities.. when i used the prone ability it used the sprint or sometimes both! and vice-versa when i used sprint it just used prone! =[

how can i stop this... is there a way i can make it that if i use prone it will just prone and not respond with the sprint! i tryed changing the hotkeys if that helped but still same problem.

A unit cannot have two abilities based off of the same ability. You will need to make one of the abilities based off of something else.

Ya, two abilities based off of the same ability, even if you change the order ID, will conflict. Sprint sounds like something that you could base off of Berserk instead.

Actually, two abilities based off the same ability with different order IDs will still work correctly. Though theres only a few abilities that allow you to change the order ID.

So you're saying that even though I may think I have changed the order ID, I really haven't? That does make sense, because I have used Channel and changed the ID, and it has worked just fine. I read somewhere once that you can change it on just about anything but Metamorphosis, but I guess it's just about the opposite.

Regardless, always try to base your spells off different abilities (unless you are using channel or another ability that you know will allow you to change the ID).

Where did I say anything like that? You mentioned in your first post that abilities with different order IDs can still conflict, so I was just saying that if they have different Order ID's they wouldn't conflict with each other.

Well Squishy, I said that because I don't make statements without actual proof. In other words, I have based 2 spells off the same ability in the past and changed the order ID, yet had no success at avoiding conflicts. This gave me the impression that changing the order ID does nothing.

Now you say that it does do something, and I'm not ignorant, so I will listen to this. I actually even agree with you, because I have seen it do something (in the case of Channel).

Though theres only a few abilities that allow you to change the order ID.

As far as I'm concerned, all abilities allow you to change the ID, it just doesn't always do anything. That is the reason I asked if "I just think I'm changing it, but I'm really not." Sorry that I didn't explain my reasoning in the first place.

Really? The only ones that I see that have that option in the object editor are Channel and Charge Gold and Lumber. Are you sure you weren't changing abilities Order Strings?

Thanks for unconfusing me. I actually thought I was talking about order strings all this time. Now I see the light!

So then on a side note, does changing the order string do anything?

Does nothing... It will still 'conflict'.

Another is Spellbook. Only 3 as far as I know.
