well, there are more here, but I thought I would post some to give you a preview

p.s. is there a spoiler button somewhere, or do you have to type the spoiler tags?

They are pretty large size-wise (relative to the avatars that are already available on the site), and considering this
Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 100 by 100 pixels or 73.2 KB (whichever is smaller).
I don't think these particular ones are going to work (unless TH wants to change the limitation)

I was thinking that since a lot of people would end up using the same one (like the wc3 ones) maybe the file size would be allowed be be bigger, so like 1 700kb file serves for 10 people's avatar instead of 10 people each with their own 70kb avatar (I would assume that they would be popular), but I dunno.. maybe I should look into shrinking them? any mod feedback? is it time to increase the limit maybe?

No, 100x100 and respect to the current max filesize. This is a forum for discussion, avatars are just a fun feature to have. However, when said feature makes the pages take longer to load, it's no longer as fun...

Many of the default ones are far bigger than 100x100 pixels.

ok, well I guess the filesize would limit the animated ones by a lot (if it isn't changed, im guessing the limit was created ~20 years ago and since then peoples internet speeds have hopefully gotten faster, but w/e)

and as far as making the pages take longer to load, wouldn't they load the page (leave room for the images), then the images, and for the animated ones only the first frame first? then when there is more time, load the rest?

how about some static sc2 avatars atleast?

p.s. are the wc3 ones inside the file size limit?

Loading that small gif should not make any noticeable difference in loading time.

We're mods and admins, but we can also be lazy, so how about you go find a pack of suitable SC2 avatars then maybe they'll be uploaded.

The ones you posted are too large, around 1mb each. That's too big for avatars.

Pack some good sized ones (look into the WC3 ones, roughly 40kb) into a .rar to make it easily downloadable/uploadable and I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be done.

The avatars are far too large, the file sizes are ridiculous it seems too, and they take far too long to load for each frame and speaking that their can be multiple of them on one page, repeatably, it isn't in our best interest to get such large avatars. Especially since this forum has to appeal to all visitors and members regardless of their computing power.

If you, or anyone else can suggest more suitable Starcraft 2 Avatars, ones that are 100x100 and meet the proper file size. (Animations are okay, but don't get to ridiculous) we will most of the time gladly put them up for you guys to use.

I will also look for some when I have the time to do, but just typing into Google "Starcraft 2 Avatar Packs" (http://www.google.com/search?q=starcraft+2+avatar+packs) There is a lot of places you can find these avatars. So I am sure you can find ones you like and are suitable for our requirements.

  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

@tom_mai78101 I must be blind. If I go on my profile I don't see any area to edit the signature; If I go to account details (settings) I don't see any signature area either.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
