Hay! ^^

I need help with balancing units, I don't know how to do it.

When the games start you get 5 units of what race you picked,
orc = grunts, human = footmen, undead = ghouls, night elf = archers.

The archer always get owned, so I think about changing them for an another unit that is melee too, but night elf doesn't have tier 1 melee units. So what to do?

And the Grunts, always win. I know the orc has the best ground unit but it must make the other somehow possible to win too, so should I make them weaker, or make the others stronger?

Ghouls, maybe I could make that i will spawn 10 Ghouls instead of 5, would that help? or does that mean they will be for many?

Footmen are ok against undead, but when they fight against grunts, they have no chance, but that's normal...

Well that was the balance. Now for the AI, should I use the AI editor or triggers? I want that the AI should move their units and kill the enemies.

Balance the units, you can just change the health, refeneration, damage, attack speed all to the same. As for the AI, if you game is like a melee game, you can use the AI Editor. Otherwise, you'll have to use triggers.

better making more units for the weaker ones ..
anyway there should be specific abilities for the units ..
archers with the range
ghouls mass attackspeed
grunts most life
footmen pretty balanced and armor
usw .. so you should depend on these things

For the AI

make triggers its easy use areas for the AI-using help
so also for abilities

I mean ok the units getting created ..
Event- unit appears in area or something that kind
then the condition that they are enemy
anyway then the best thing the action .. attack/move there

if units are low life -

Event: Unit gets attacked
-------Target of spell
Condition: Life is lower/equal 8%
Action: send unit away from the enemies .. here is the best thing to split the map or arena theyre fighting in many areas and so if enemys are in 1 are move in another ..

set the number of grunts to like 3 or 4. and urm...use huntress as a "melee" unit lol

Go into the object editor, and copy the grunt. Then, paste it four times.

Just modify each one, slightly, to make them different, but keep stats. Like, change the model, but keep the health.

omg no thats shitty cause if 1 is stronger than another its NOT balanced ..

Well okay I will lower the grunts, but huntress is tier 2 not tier 1 xD

ty all for answering ^^ time to create those triggers then xD and edit the units ^^
