Barrel of Explosives

Is there a way to make it placeable (in editor) like a unit (without making it a unit), currently, it keeps snapping to place by about 1 square.

Try setting its pathing map to none.

Take a normal plant from the Props section or a flower of some sort > edit its model to a barrel of explosives > profit.
