Whenever I use one of these in a trigger:
Code:
Cinematic - Send transmission to (All players) from Medivh 0070 <gen> named Medivh: Play No sound and display Hello and Welcome t.... Modify duration: Add 0.00 seconds and Wait
it always lasts 5 seconds no matter how much I add to the duration. Any way I could make it show the speech for longer?

well, no sound + 0.00 duration = 5 second wait time, no sound+ 3.00 duration = 8 second wait time. No sound automatically makes it 5 seconds, and then adding to the duration will be 5 seconds + duration.

if you've got multiple actions like "player talks" then "pan camera over"
you gotta add a "wait" in there, or it starts the second action before the first ones complete ?

And now I have another problem. When I play this map on Bnet the transmission flshes on for about 2 seconds and disapears and then you have to wait the amount of time its meant to be on for.......... this doesnt happn when I play it single player.

EDIT: Ive found a possible cause for this porblem, if you press escape it clears the transmission but you still have to wait so someone could be doing that every time I host it. Is there anyway to disable escape?

This is definitely the cause of the problem. I believe it is possible to disable this, but unfortunately I'm not quite sure how.

Yes, it's just something people on Battle.net do, hoping they won't have to wait.

*sigh*

Hm, I'm not sure, would "Cinematic - Disable user control for (All players)" help?

Sadly, no. It may require JASS, but I believe it is possible.

I know there is a jass script that catches when someone presses escape and then you can do whatever (say kick them out or something)

I recommend not using cinematics on b.net.

Its just for a tutorial on my map. I had on plain text before but then no one read it. Now if I tell everyone not to press esc before hand they read and dont spend the whole game telling me that they dont understand what to do.

Maybe you should add a -help command, which then only runst he cinematic for that player... that way people who don't want to watch dont have to watch.

There is actually an event for checking cinematic skips, you can use that to track down which player caused the skip and penalize them? (possibly).

I recommend a help command though because a group of players who already know how to play will not want to play through a tutorial.

Help command will give players who don't know how to plqay a major disadvantage because they will miss the first mins of the game in which they would probably lose if the others knew what they were doing. This is a new map and barely anyone knows how to play it anyway so can someone please give me the code.

what you should do is change (add) n sec into (set) n sec :D when there is no sound.
i think it works

Nothing can prevent me from pressing escape.
It's meant to interrupt cinematics, even when "cinematics - disable user control" is active.

Thanks for the help but I got that working about a month ago

Damn I might have to resort to putting "skipping this will auto kick you" into the cinemtatic and then make a trigger to kick anyone that ckips it....
