Dinosaur Island Idea help [Rep will be given]

I'm making a new map called Dinosaur Island.
It uses many of Olof Moleman's Dinosaur Models. The map is kinda inspired by the map Darwin's Island and the new game Spore

At the beginning you start as some sort of Simple Lifeform on the island. Then you eat Ferns and mice to evolve. If the majority of what you ate is Ferns, then you'll become a herbivore. And if the majority is mice you'll become a carnivore.



Simple Lifeform----->
Stage 1 Herbivore ---- Stage 2 ----Stage 3
Stage 1 Carnivore---- Stage 2 ---- Stage 3


Evolving to stage 2 will give you one random out of two dinosaurs. Same with stage 3.

Enought with the explanation [Gotta save some for the project forum]

What i need help with is: How can this game become more exciting? And how can i make a better gameplay?. Ideas are needed:D.
Maybe diffrent modes or something?

make the enviroment where you eat those things matter

near water will give you amphebios abilitties, in trees or so makes you a flier.

how you could make it intersting is to have 1 main dino, and 11 babies, the babies can be eaten byother players, and give a high experience, the goal would be to defend the babies.

You could add a hunger and rest aspect where you need to eat and sleep or you start losing health over time.

As well, try making different species have advantages on different types of terrain. For example, you could give damage modifiers, lowering their damage if its not their natural habitat.

Perhaps the addition of neanderthals who constantly harass the dinos might be prudent. The dinos can't fight the neanderthals effectively until stage 3 (with a good chance of survival if retreating at stage 2) but get hunted and pursued for quite a distance when encounters take place.

Alright, not sure how farfetched you want to go with the idea but bare with me. For LightChaosma's idea, maybe have different dinosaurs you can mate with, causing different breeds of babies. They could grow up over time to fight and hunt for your herd.

This would probably cause the game to lean towards a kind of dinosaur empires aspect which I'm not sure you want to do. Anyway, just a thought :D

i dunno if i want the map to focus on 1 unit per player which you gotta take care of like sleeping and such and evolve. Or if it should focus on a whole herd

Why not have a little of both? You could have a den or "main base" where your herd brings food back to, keeping all your dinosaurs healthy. Your dinos would have to return to the den every so often to recuperate.

Then you could have your main dino, being more experienced than the others, have the ability to bring back more food and stay out in the wilderness longer.

well it took millions of years for simple life forms to evolve into advanced "animals"
so you could make it that every 10-15 minutes a new era begins where simple life form turns into more advanced one depending on what lvl was it (for level 1 it wont evolve at all, for level 2 it will evolve a bit, for level 5 it will evolve into amphibian, for level 10 into smaller lizard etc. And you could make few eras until you reach Dinosaurs. During the era change you should change the landscape and tileset itself too! (because after million years earth is completely changed). And the final era should be the ice age (with snow ofc) where starts the real challenge, every Dinosaur is exticting - the last standing Dinosaur is the winner.

Evolving right after an animal eats something is a bit wicked :nuts:...

But it requires good jass skills.

To make it exiting, make it varied :D
Many different animals, plants, more to do then just eat things, just get a lot to do and it gets fun in notime. Make sure it doesnt turn into nonesense though.

lets see, how do we continnue on that cnecept, sey we have 11 babies, each one is a hero, wich levels up, and has 1 ability, but they can never surpass the main one. you could make it like a bit of rivalism between herbivore and carnivores. with carnivores have long debuff attacks (the wounds that take forever to heal (appart from HP, say a 2 minute speed decrease)) and the herbivores have strong physical attacks that knock the carnivores out of thier territory.

you could give each babie an aura, wich motivates the main one to fight, so in essence the main one gets stronger for each babie on his side.

for easier control have all the babies automaticly follow the main one, and try to make thier skills ranged and autocastable. howl of terror and roar would be good adult abilities, whereas heal and poisen sting would be good baby abilities (poison sting would be an infected wound, that damages over time)

this war i mentionned earlier, would have herbivore defender, and carnivore attcker. and say after 25 minutes of war, if the herbivores have hold the line well, they get a reward, if not, the carnivores get a reward. the rewards wont give an edge in battle, cause you would make the winner stronger. it would be an extra baby or so, yet another one to defend, but also a motivation bonus.

you could have 3 rounds or so, or 2, if you dont want a 1.5 hour game.

now give your eyes a rest ;)

There needs to be some sort of enemy.. Are we cellular lifeforms here? If so, have a netural hostile macropghage enemy that tries to eat/absorb YOU. Or if we're primordial land dwellers, have some sort of primal predator hunt the player's down. Use your lifeform's hero abilities to escape, evolve into your dino. As Chao mentioned, once you evolve to dinosaur, have cavemen hunt the players! Or, have the player hunt cavemen for bonus points! :)

I have a bunch of ideas here.....i recommend reading this through.

I insist on the game being one unit per player.
According to me the the proper game victory condition would be to survive a few generations with the least amount of deaths (for herbivores) or highest kills (for carnivores).

Here a nice combat system idea.

Every dinosaur has the following attributes :-

Weight which is decided by how much it eats. (Carnivores more heavier than herbivores)
Power decided by what it eats. (Carnivores more powerful than herbivores)
Height (Attack Range) Increases with evolution and Model size. (This decides the ability to attack units at a particular flying height)
Speed Decided by weight, power and height.
Attack Type (Teeth,claws etc)
Skin Type (Armor) (Hard skin, scales etc)
Blood Type (Regeneration, immunities etc.)
Species (Innate Skills)

Speed and height can decide whether it will evolve into a flying creature or not.
Also have a skill like Charge which actually charge the enemy. Use the weight, power, height and speed to decide the winner and how much damage and knock back will there be.

Have a Hunger factor which will decide the power and the likeliness to get diseased (de-buffed).
Have the good food to be found rare and the bad stuff to be more abundant.
Eating different kind of food will give different kinds of abilities.
However one must choose what he wants to eat. A wrong (incompatible) choice might lead to an allergy.

Have a Day-Night system to control the advantages the nocturnals over the daylight creatures.
The same system could be used to make the Dinosaur sleep. (While in sleep the entire screen becomes blackmasked for the player).
The sleep will affect your speed and power and likeliness to diseases.
Nocturnals dont need to sleep in the night and vice-versa.
If you are attacked while sleeping you take bonus damage and become dazed and disoriented. (The day and night time are 120 seconds each and you need to sleep at-least for 30 seconds every 4 minutes.)
Thus the sleep system will make sure you can hunt down powerful enemies while they are asleep thus adding to the balance of the game.

But if used correctly and stealthily you can get the benifits of sleeping.
These benefits include :
* 10X Natural regeneration
* Most debuffs are dispelled
* Bonus Exp gain (+25%) for some time after the sleep
* Proper digestion of food leading to learning new skills and immunities.
* Reduces Chance to get diseased.

Have a multi-board to show the stats of the currently selected dino/food.
________________________________________________________________________________________
Have forest hazards like diseases, quicksand, mosquitoes etc.

Have a Breeding System.
This will include mating the neutral passive/hostile dinosaurs or the players themselves to form a new creature in the form of an egg (The 2 chicks from the eggs will be given to each mating player and the parents will die.)
Also mating will have a specific age (level).
You and you mate will have to be in the same region where you did your mating till the egg hatches. The Chicks (for both players) in the Eggs will replace your current character and inherit their power's and immunities.
However the Chicks will start their life with a small age (lower level), but because they are genetically advanced, they will have higher stat gain and bonus XP (A permanent +50% increase per generation) for their kills.

Also how about a camera shake effect if a T-Rex (big guy) passes by you.

Also adding flying,amphibious,water and mutant dinosaurs would be a good idea, but since atm the concept lacks foundation, we will wait for the evolution ladder to be decided, so that we can balance it.

I have more ideas but i cant remember what...will let you know asap.

It would be fun to have UFO's around as well, just like in Spore. Maby you can see animals get kidnapped by those ufos, or get kidnapped yourself and be planted back on earth with a green tinted dinosaur? xD

    I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work

Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
