Fatal Error / No Player Slots

What exactly causes these things?
The Fatal Error occurs right as the map finishes loading, but before the map actually opens up
And on one map of mine the Player Slots do not appear while viewing it

I use NewGen, and both maps worked fine until I edited a few things; triggers, hero powers, minimal terrain, and map name/save as.

I only use GUI triggering and have no problems saving or opening the map in WE

Any ideas what could be going wrong?
 
well concluding from the message i would say there are no player slots xD.
open up map properties and check for how many players the map is set to have. might be corrupted also but thats hard to tell if one cannot have a look.
 
There are Player Slots in the editor, but not when viewing the game in WC
How would you tell if the map is corrupted or not?

Also if you convert a map, then edit the converted version, instead of the non-converted version, could that cause errors like this?
 
what kind of "conversion" are you talking about? from RoC to TfT?

and telling if the map is corrupted is simply done by testing it out myself. because if the map doesnt work and its definitely no mistake done in the editor and it is just not working for you it isnt the map but your wc3 which is damaged, but if the map doesnt work for everybody you can be sure the map is the problem.

the thing is the error you have encountered has never been acknowledged by me ever since i am working with wc3. and having "no player slots" in a map is something which is practically impossible, thus explaining why i never saw such an error before.
what might be the problem is that your map file is corrupted, for example when you were saving the map and your computer crashed this might have happened.
 
By Conversion I mean converting the map from TFT to RoC, w3x to w3m using MPQ.

And the computer crashing part could be very likely as that could have happened but I'm not sure.

So then, would you mind testing out the map for corruption for me?

And Ive had this no Player Slots occurrence 4 or 5 times now, and still have never figure out how to fix it.
 
well i dont know but that conversation might be the issue as well, never tried it, dont know anything about it, cant tell.

i would advice you to just upload the map here, some helpful member will most probably look it up for you. i dunno if i got the time right now.

try to convert mp3 to flac by changing extenstion, and WOW this does not work.

stealing maps is not good, also they may include protection, that none here will crack for you.
 
DioD He could want a map, and then just it wasn't available for him in ROC, I believe he has the right to do that, as long he gives credits
 
The maps were completely my own, I believe the problem is that while creating the map I added in some TFT only things that would still work on RoC; water movement for boats, creation of custom powers, etc.

And as so, to host on RoC i had to convert it back to w3m, and so I did.
After testing I found some things that needed editing, and I began editing the converted version, which is where I think I went wrong, as I probably should have edited the non-converted version...

I'm hoping to find some random way to fix this but as of right now I'm still stuck. And I either don't have, or just simply can not find the non-converted original file...

Also DioD, I have no idea what your comment about conversion meant, you obviously have no idea what I'm talking about o.o

IT WILL NEVER WORK!!!111

You really have no idea what conversion is?
It's not just changing the extensions, it's starting with a tft map, and having a blank roc map. transfering all files from the tft map to the roc map.
The map then works on roc, only certain things from TFT will show up though.
Things like tft only icons, skins, spells, etc. will now show up
 
does that really work? wouldnt that mean they would count as imports and take map size? otherwise i couldnt believe that was possible.

Edit: but speaking about messing with a map using MPQ editors it definitely is a possibility to corrupt the data.
 
It does add map size, but if you just use the basic Optimizer it'll slim right back down.
I can post a guide or something if you'd like?
I'm kind of surprised no ones posted about it on here before o_O

    It is OK though for the main page to open up on the forum in the view it was before. As long as the portal has its own URL so it can be viewed that way I do want to try it as a regular forum view for a while
