Compiling complete. We will merge all data now and optimize everything, then I will host a closed test on the bnet, channel Clan TuX on Northrend at 21:00 GMT+1.

is it possible to load a character that I had on previous version?
No. We had to do lots of changes to the save/load system because of all the new features and the gameplay changed a lot because of the soloability of outdoor trash. Also, We wanted to finally remove all of the cheated characters from the bnet.

No ... all future versions will require the new save/load code generated with the newest version.

I am very upset about your comment. This game was the only reason I still played WC3. If the codes reset every version then there is honestly no point in me playing. I spent way too much time raising all of my characters and getting them the best gear. I spent hours stealing from the protector to get the ritualist's blade.

There is no point in playing anymore. I'd rather wait years and years for the final version to come out so I don't waste any more of my time. There is nothing worse then spending loads of your time on a game and the next day your save file becomes corrupt. I feel the same way about this game. Why should I spend my time playing this game if I am just going to get really pissed off when the next version comes out? I believe you lost many fans on this one zwieb. I believe your going to continue to lose fans the more and more as they read this post.

Maybe I'll check it out when I'm an old man. I mean... it did take you guys a ridiculous amount of time to come out with the new version and the map isn't even 1/4 of the way full. The four of you will probably die before you ever complete this map. Well have fun losing your fans.

I personally welcome the reset, There were many peoples who had hackedlevels 50+ and all the code wipe does is keep the game balanced. They made it easier to level off regular mobs, you can easily get back your levels in little to no time, and big deal about the gear farming I mean did you really expect to keep that gear very long anyways even with a new version released and old codes worked? It would just be replaced in the next big dungeon.

So is it out?
Code wipes wont stop hackers... look if u wanted to hack this map u still could.
If we have to start new characters every update i think it might be better to wait a year then play it -.-

Do not get me wrong. I have no problem with them doing a code wipe in this new version. What makes me furious is the fact that they will wipe the code every single time they make a new version. You are the most patient bastard in the world if you are honestly okay with a code wipe every version. Either that or you are a loser who has all the time in the world to play gaias orpg.

As for the previous poster. They have NOT ONCE told us that there would be a code wipe on this new version. If they actually have said that somewhere on these forums then I'm sorry I don't have all the time in the world to look through hundreds of posts. If they were smart, they would have warned us more often.

I may have worded my response a little funny, but the code wipe was not only used to stop hackers, yes sadly those who desire to hack probably can still hack their chars, but the code wipe also serves as a balance to 'reset' the game environment and fix old exploits. Plus I believe they revamped the way the save/load feature works in this new version which is one of the main reasons it needed a wipe. It no longer just saves character levels, but the % of your XP too. So if you save with a bar almost ready to level, you won't lose that bar of XP anymore. All new codes will be based off this % based XP save and that alone is worth any save/load wipe in long run when levels get harder to come, in my opinion at least.

I never said that we will do a code wipe on every version. I just told you that THIS version REQUIRED a code wipe, because we added new features to the Save/Load system. I'm sorry, but there is no way around that.
We did not intend to wipe the code at the first place, but then one day, muzzel suddenly showed up with that crafting system and then, one second later, we decided to already implement it in this new version, along with a long awaited change to also save XP, not only level.

There will not be a code wipe in the far future, as now, we implemented all features the final version of Gaias Retaliation ORPG will have. We have nothing more in-petto. The only reason why there should be another code wipe in the future would be, that we find another bug in the save/load (and even that does not require a code wipe most of the time).

I spent way too much time raising all of my characters and getting them the best gear. I spent hours stealing from the protector to get the ritualist's blade.
I'm sorry, but you behave like a spoiled child. The code wipe was a necessity, period. Without a code wipe, you would not be able to store mats in your matbag or recipes for the new crafting system.

There is no point in playing anymore. I'd rather wait years and years for the final version to come out so I don't waste any more of my time.
How can playing a game ever be a "waste of time"?! It's not like we are forcing you to play it. Gaming should be fun, not work. If you "worked" on your characters instead of just playing for fun, then I pitty you.
And besides, the map is still in ALPHA state.

There is nothing worse then spending loads of your time on a game and the next day your save file becomes corrupt. I feel the same way about this game. Why should I spend my time playing this game if I am just going to get really pissed off when the next version comes out?
Maybe because it's fun?

I think the fans will be very pleased with the new crafting system, the threat bar, the terrain overhaul of the starting area and the other neat stuff we implemented.

and the map isn't even 1/4 of the way full.
That's because the map is four times as big as the ordinary "extra large" map size. 480x480 is simple not possible to fill. What do you expect? Even a smaller map like TKOK is not filled completely yet.

yes... except who cares about % of xp when you lose your char every update.

Can someone confirm they have to reset codes every update?
Just to make it clear once and for all:

Yes, you can never be sure that it was the last code wipe, but for now, we can tell you with almost 99% safety, that it will be the last code wipe for a very long time. We implemented all the features the 1.0 state of Gaias Retaliation ORPG will have now and do not see a reason to add more stuff to the save/load in the future.
