I want to basically have like a copy of the same model in a map, but have it look for a different skin than the original model. So basically how would I edit a model type file to tell it to look for a different skin? Also what program/s would I need?

Find the texture path, set the file path of the skin to that texture path, it will overwrite any already default textures. You cannot have 2 imported skins overwriting the same texture.

EX:

Orc Raider Model

units\Orc\Wolfrider\Wolfrider.blp

You will need to extract the model file of the model you want to have 2 skins. Rename it t osomething else. Open the mdx in notepad and change the skin path. and import both the mdx and the corresponding texture.

So all I need is notepad? Nice. I'm gonna try that now...

Cool. Thanks! I haven't tried it yet (via importing) but it looks like it'll work.
