this is designed to work with any creeps, i can see before me a careless player that let a scout get away get raided by giants or hordes of demons. =)

im not to far into jass or the ai editor but through triggering it seems easy enough. great idea :thup:

What about the human player? He has an unfair advantage because he knows where the units were and doesn't have to send his scout back.

Why won't you ask acehart for help he is very good with AI, I'm sure he'd help you.

The advantage the player has is not necessary advantegous, it depends on the type of creeps the bases consists of. if its creeps like giants ur facing, delaying them in the players detection could be vital.

Making a New AI

Remembering that since i'm not using that AI Editor ad I'm doing it completely in the Trigger editor, it may take a while 'cause this is complicated. I can have it done by...... end of August at the LATEST; but we'll see how this goes.

I've started and working on a 6 player map. I think the units produced will be heavily impacted by the number of players on the map. You basic idea of scouts and waves will be very simple, but it is applying it to the number of AI's.

I think i'll have to start on a 2 player so I can speed up my work. As I said, I will have it done by the end of August at the latest.

EDIT: Smygarn777; it is nice to know i'm loved (LOL!!!)

This won't be a melee map or ladder game make up if you keep adding more and more ideas and turn it into a footies thing

it shouldn't since it has a different concept, footies you know where the guys are in this you don't.
I'm assuming in this you don't need AI to play you can play FFA 1v1, 2v2, such and such?

This idea is not completly original as some of you might think, i got the idea from an rts game called Spellforce. in this particular game, the ai used the same strategy as the one im trying to invent. A scout to make the ai more human player like, where the ai doesnt just send out its army straight off but it looks for the player first, and for safety reasons its scout retreats back to regroup
(in spellforce as i suspect, the scout regroups with an attacking force as soon as it detects a building. it runs back to the camp that started producing warriors upon detecting enemy establishments.).

But nonetheless, adding this ai could make Wc3 much more fun to actually play, since you can choose whether to rush the ai or be sneaky and prepare a force to dominate them after building yourself up. though the creeps inhabiting a camp can vary i hope this ai can be used for great entertainment.
To all of you who think this is a good idea, i hope you also enjoy the gameplay when you experience it yourselves.

I suggest you learn up on some JASS. Once you've got your JASS down, look into the MPQ files of warcraft to get to the ai files. those are the codes for the melee AI. Study those, and eventually have a complex, fun game to play. GL with this though.

PS: This would take some more people than just one person with no experience with AI and some tutorials. You need to start small and work your way up.

Not necessarily. I've got pretty much no experience in JASS and I'm making a weapon system that as far as I know has things in it that are totally new. It takes a while, sure, but it's possible.


I was making a system similar to this, only it was for a totally different kind of map.

The AI:thdown:
I have run into huge problems and have been stuck on it for a few weeks now.

I can get the Night Elves to build the basics like and Alter, a Barracks, and a moonwell, but i can't get the other races to build their equivalents even though i'm basically using the same trigger structure for every race.

That's my main problem.

The Creeps:thup:
I haven't had a lot of time to work on the creeps but what I have done is working. I am yet to make creep camps of all the normal creeps like trolls and furbogs but once I get the Undead creeps done, the rest should be easy.

What I Need
If someone can come up with triggering that determines the computer's race and get system of building working, then I'll use it as a template and take it from there.

Ey Death Knight, Looks like i gotta remind you what this ai will be doing.

First it will not be building any buildings of the sort because they are preset already in the map and it wont be rebuilding anything.

What the ai will be doing is the scout process and summoning + raiding.

The Summoning i thought would involve editing the ai for every camp to make it fit, as well as how many per raiding party it summons.
