PPL...
Hope you don't flame me for this...
But...
Well...
I would like to know...
How is the Warcraft III
Damage calculated?
I mean...
Damage Base
Damage Factor - Medium
Damage Factor - Small
Damage Loss Factor
Damage Number of Die
Damage Sides per Die

How does that Date gather to calculate damage?
Thanks in advance...

as far as i know, its like this

minimum: damage base + numbers of dies
maximum: damage base + numbers of dies + (numbers of dies ×sides per die)
somethign like that:rolleyes:
dont hvae WE open so, i cant calculate
plus my mind is currently woosh.

Let's say your unit does 10 base damage, and you set the number of dices to 2 and damage per die, 3.

In the end, your unit will do 10 + (2*1) to (2*3) damage, which results in 12-16 damage.

Simply think that your number of dices basically adds that damage to your base damage, so if you have 10 base and 2 dies, you will at least do 12 damage, minimum. Now, the maximum damage is the number of die * damage per die, but added to the base value (10) and not the resulting value (which would be 12)

So 10 + ("number of dices[2]" * 1) to (10 + "Damage per die[3]" * "Number of dices[2]") = 12-16 damage.

Damage factor Medium and Damage factor Small is for splash radius compared to damage. Click the link in my signature and see for a Unit Editor tutorial there.

This Question might be a little OffTopic, but I've always wondered.
Why is it called 'damage per die' and 'Number of dices'?
Maybe it's something lost in translation, but I totally don't get it :p
Dice.. die.. dice.. die.. *ponder*

Ummm .. let me try to answer th' question ....

it is like this .....

Number of dice
Let say three [3]... you have three dices ..... yes it follows the word litterally .. you have three dices nothing else

Damage per Die
Let say ten [10]
You may wonder ... how many sides each dices have ?... it has ten sides each ( dunno why they called it "die"). Thus when you roll the dice --> which they called die ..... see the number
dice a = 5
dice b = 6
dice c = 7
with the total of 18 + base damage [10] = so you dealt 28 damage
following the form 10+(3*1) -- 10+(3*10) --- damage 13 -- 40
it still within 13 -- 40 interval
assuming each dice got 1
then the damage dealt will be 13 and it still within the damage interval
assuming each dice got 10
then the damage dealt will be 40 and it still within the damage interval
i think it serves as damage "generator" so they called it damage per die .. ??

fun with dices ....
assumption :
base damage 10
case a
number of dices 100
damage per die 2
10 + (100*1) -- 10 + (100*2)
so the "range" about 110 -- 210
case b
number of dices 2
damage per die 100
10 + (2*1) -- 10 + (2*100)
so the "range" is 12 -- 210
--more higher the die then the range will become wider but the "end damage" will be the same--

and the last thing ... correct me if i wrong :D

ps : am i OOT ??...

So what you're saying is that 'dice' is really a .. dice? :p
Well. A formula or something to simultate the dice.

Just like in the old RPG's when you had papers and dices, huh? :)

yep much more like DnD
Satan game ... lol ...

except the computer have their own dice .... ( can you roll 100 dice at same time ? )

dang ... just red ghost stories in my local forum .... :banghead: can't sleep ....

News portal has been retired. Main page of site goes to Headline News forum now
  • The Helper The Helper:
I am working on getting access to the old news portal under a different URL for those that would rather use that for news before we get a different news view.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Easily done
    +1
  • The Helper The Helper:
https://www.thehelper.net/pages/news/ is a link to the old news portal - i will integrate it into the interface somewhere when i figure it out
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Need to try something
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Hopefully this won't cause problems.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Hmm
  • Ghan Ghan:
I have converted the Headline News forum to an Article type forum. It will now show the top 20 threads with more detail of each thread.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    See how we like that.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do not see a way to go past the 1st page of posts on the forum though
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is OK though for the main page to open up on the forum in the view it was before. As long as the portal has its own URL so it can be viewed that way I do want to try it as a regular forum view for a while
  • Ghan Ghan:
Yeah I'm not sure what the deal is with the pagination.
  • Ghan Ghan:
It SHOULD be there so I think it might just be an artifact of having an older style.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I switched it to a "Standard" article forum. This will show the thread list like normal, but the threads themselves will have the first post set up above the rest of the "comments"
  • The Helper The Helper:
I don't really get that article forum but I think it is because I have never really seen it used on a multi post thread
  • Ghan Ghan:
RpNation makes more use of it right now as an example: https://www.rpnation.com/news/

    What do you think Tom?
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
I will have to get used to this.
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
The latest news feed looks good
  • The Helper The Helper:
I would like to see it again like Ghan had it the first time with pagination though - without the pagination that view will not work but with pagination it just might...
