Pudge War's Slow Motion

Anyone know how slow motion works in Pudge Wars? Basically, it happens when someone picks up a rune. The pudge that picks it up moves extra quickly, has its attack animation increased and its hook's speed sped up, while the rest of the people move extremely slowly, have their hooks slowed down and their attack animations slowed down.

At first I thought that it was simply casting some kind of slow on everything, but apparently spells are also affected by this slow motion.

Woah. Unless they can somehow alter the timescale of the whole game (which is not possible as far as I know) then they probably use triggers to caste a modified slow on every other Pudge, and a modified Bloodlust on the caster. I don't know how to slow down projectiles or spells tho.

I bet the spell itself has a function to check if someone has picked the rune, if it has, the hook is slowed. I mean, you can buy powerups to increase the hook's speed itself.

So yeah, I think they basically cast a slow on enemies, bloodlust/negative slow on the one who took the rune. And then the hook spell itself checks if rune taken, and if it is, the hook runs slower for thoose with the buff and vice versa. For example the hook runs 10 each 0.05 seconds, if a unit has buff it runs 5 instead etc.

The hook is probably periodic when it is created... and the time to create the next hook is effected by a slower time (make the periodic time a variable)

To change max values and use negatives in the object editor... just hold shift then enter then put in your value and hit okay.

Probably checks for a boolean, if SlowTime is true then we set timer interval to lower or something... or speed. I've done it in my map.

You can change this now in User CP.

Ok, I've an idea how to trigger it now
If you know how to make it can u explain? I have a spell in my map and i want it to slow time... But what about if u have ranged units in your map the projectiles will run at very fast speed :(

I do not think projectile can be slowed. Pudge Wars has no projectiles. Only hooks. Hook speed can be easily changed. However, for projectile, I believe it's not possible.

either trigger the projectiles or replace the units with slow motion units... both are not good solutions but you cant modify a unit's projectile speed with a trigger if the projectile itself isnt triggered.

I think the map uses TT like timer system and switch it to lower period when triggered.

nope it doesnt. it just slows the distance moved each interval. dont guess things if you havent seen the source code >.>. (well, my is kinda old, too (uses game cache) but lowering the timer frequency would be SO STUPID...)
the map i got uses 1 timer for each instance and game cache btw.
and lowering the frequency would also slow the high speed hook (and make everything look crappy)...

When an unit acquires a rune:

Cast Bloodlust on Pudge (Max Attack & Movespeed)
Cast Slow on all units except Pudge
Set Unit Animation (to some %)
As mentioned above, changed distance move by pudge hook for all pudges.

I will now tell you something about the hook.

Only the speed slows, but the periodic still stays. There might be more of those knives in lower distance, and strygwyr's claws deal megadamage because it is made to occur every few periodic, and it will not change when one takes the rune.

I'd say the slowing system sucks.

Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
