Rather confused

So recently I decided to update JassHelper, I think I did it right, it detects errors at least (obvious ones) but for some reason none of my triggers are initializing, and I mean NONE of them. I really don't know what I would give you people to figure this out, it all worked fine before I updated JassHelper.

Well, first real quick, how am I supposed to be able to update JASSHelper with NewGen correctly? I'm a little confused as to do it, especially the Source code part of it. It may be a problem with that and I tried reupdating it recently and my map is now unopenable due to two functions (GetUnitId) and an unnamed one. If someone can give me one that's working and updated and works right via upload, that'd be awesome.

Just copy the JassHelper.exe into your one? Replacing it?
Easiest way to setup jasshelper with grimoire is by downloading the Jass NewGen pack and then just update its jasshelper.exe to the one included in this release.

Which script files do I update with the ones from WC3 itself? Do I update the RTCs as well?
Edit: Even with the Vanilla NewGen it doesn't load >_>
Edit2: Opens now.

Well, it all works now after a few dozen tests. Can someone show me how you'd set up globals correctly? Currently I'm doing this.
JASS:
function InitTrig_JASSInitialization takes nothing returns nothing
endfunction
globals
    integer IndexNumber = 1 //Reset once hit 8000
    real array IndexReal
    real array IndexReal2
    integer array IndexInteger
    real array KnockBackReal
    real array KnockBackAngleReal
    //----------------------
    integer LightningIndexing = 1
    lightning array TrackingLightning
    unit array LightningSide1
    unit array LightningSide2
    real array TrackingLightningDuration
    boolean array IsTrackingLightning
    //----------------------
    group BeingKnockedBack = CreateGroup()
    //region EntireMap = CreateRegion()
    integer UnitID = 0
    integer DummyUnit1 = 'h002'
    integer DummyUnit2 = 'h001'
    integer DummyUnit3 = 'h00J'
endglobals

And it worked before I updated JASSHelper.
What line or anything could stop my entire maps script from working? JassHelper says it all works fine and I've disabled any new triggers and then some.

JASS:
    group BeingKnockedBack = CreateGroup()

It could be that using a native in a globals block ends the thread. I would also move the globals block above the function.

Natives can be used in global blocks...
Just take a look at, e.g GroupUtils. It has a global block, and has a global (ENUM_GROUP) initialized :D

But I'd advice you to move it above the InitTrig function ;)

sorry if this sounds too stupid, but what is jasshelper? it's part of the editor right? well which part of it is it?

It's a part of the Newgen editor, which is like an addon for the normal WE...
JassHelper lets you use new kind of stuff in JASS. (Called vjASS ;))

Download Newgen here ! :D

hmm...i still don't understand. i have a relatively new version of the newgen editor but when i was going to update it there were errors with the updating like it changed all my preferences such as my JASS code colors and fonts which really pissed me off...i was wondering if JassHelper what it does is avoid that kindof thing if you simply update your jasshelper instead of the entire editor...are you saying jasshelper basically adds new vjass functionality, much like blizzard adds hashtables? because i just thought jasshelper was something more like the function list, where you can see the functions and see what they take and return and what calls they make and what variables they use and whatever.

The function list is provided by the application TESH, and so is the JASS colors and such :D
And yes, JassHelper is the things which gives you vJASS ;)

also, i'm curious, does new jasshelper show the new hashtable commands in jass? if so, that would be pretty awesome and i'd better get it, because right now i don't really understand all that but if those were all in the function list like the other functions then they would probably be easier to use, what with being able to get error messages when i make mistakes when i save and all that, if all that's included in the jasshelper too...or is some of that TESH stuff?

Well, no... It's still TESH that provides that list, and the creator of it (SFilip) is currently gone (And probably wouldn't update it if he were here even XD) so it won't be updated with the new hashtables, unfortunately...

Though, maybe if someone is gives the permission to update TESH, then it might happen though don't think so :(

that's what i thought, and about the error messages when saving...do those still happen(i mean with hashtables)? lol i know i'm so clueless about the hashtables...

hey Sevion...i thought the new patch with hashtables came sooner than june...it came in august didn't it? but anyway i know the very newest patch came only like last week or so. but it's definitely newer than the TESH i have now but i wonder if i shouldn't hold back from upgrading my TESH until a newer one comes out for the newest patch, because I don't want to have to keep editing the colors again and again...but i guess i can't have it both ways, huh?

Um. The only things needed to be added are SaveAgent and GetSpellTargetX/Y.

If you want to keep your scheme, just don't overwrite it... :nuts:

    Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
    I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
    Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
    So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
    I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
    Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
    Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
