Make a short story contest.

We tried that, and in my opinion, it failed. I'd have to dig up the old thread to re-read it to be sure, though. Didn't pay attention due to not wanting to deal with that contest.

I can't even be sure I can hold one of those at the same time. I don't have that kind of reading time...

Oh Man, boy do I have a masterpiece ready for you guys.

I've been waiting for this contest for years, well, atleast in a long span of time.

I will join this contest.:thup: I'll submit my poem when the time is right.

My main weakness in poetry is flow (I always resort to random poetry), but I have to deal with it though and try to learn more on how to make a smooth flow in poetry.

I'm in. I'm working on it. Just any day now.

I'll give a shot even though poetry isn't really my thing.

I'll post my entry really soon. Hopefully this will be a fun contest.

So far we seem to have 2 people saying they DON'T WANT any other judges and 2 people saying they would judge, IF WE DECIDE FOR THEM.

Heaven

Heaven is not for me
I can't picture myself
With God's angels
Or my dead friends

They kept tellin' me
That in order find a peaceful place
I'd have to believe in the Lord
But to me it's an illusion

When I was young and stupid
I would pray to get to Heaven
I thought if I did something would happen
But I've lost my faith and there's nothing left

Few years passed
Now my mindstate is thinkin'
Heaven ain't for me
It's not the place I should be

If I was born to burn in hell
Then I'll embrace that
To me it's not a big deal
And finally I'll close my eyes

You're supposed to use the topic provided in the first post. However, considering this is about Heaven, aka the sky, I'll allow it unless someone wants to protest?

I just realised this thread exists half an hour ago.

The idea of my poem was one I had for a fictional story I always wanted to write in the future but never really got to.

I'm extremely bad at poetry and structuring, so don't laugh.

Every day I can’t help but wonder,
Why I am blessed with all these gifts.
Fire, Earth, Ice and Thunder,
The elements of magic and myth.

All my life I have voyaged across the sphere,
Trying to aid those in need.
But all I find is darkness and fear
And people blinded by greed.

Finally I have found my purpose,
It isn’t to destroy, nor is it to protect.
My purpose is to cleanse the Earth and punish the humans,
For their faith in ignorance and constant neglect.

My desire is not of vengeance;
My intent is not to cause pain.
My desire is that of justice.
So the Earth will never see this evil again.

I recommend keeping the same rhyme pattern.

the rule clearly states that as long as your write it, it's okay. That should mean that others can give you suggestions and say what parts they like and don't like, etc., but I doubt you may use words or parts they suggest.

I'll write my poem soon, but I'll not submit it right now. I have enough time to let others critique my work and change things up before I submit the final draft.

I expect to lose, but here's my poem.

There once was a gay flame,
Who killed, destroyed, and blamed.
All the people against him
Died in a fiery blaze.

Those who wanted to flee.
Were only left as debris.
Their roots were planted.
And they were no longer free.

Life is as cruel as a mistress.
But sometimes, I like to sigh.
No others, can withstand it.
The fire is coming for me.

And if I plan to risk it,
God please help me now.
For when I leave my parents.
The flame will devour me.

Brothers, please watch your sisters.
Sisters, be good wives.
Mothers, hold your children,
Before the flame becomes nigh.

And when all have fallen.
Let the flame taste win.
But the lowly won’t be in sorrow.
For the day’s end is near.
And at night, we’ll slaughter.
The flame will disappear.

Element of Love

Can birds roar, while monsters cry,
Can mountains erupt where the oceans dry,
Can one man succeed where another does not,
And can only that one man, get that beautiful spot.

Is jealousy a sin on the mind,
Is a thought an impossible find,
Is love, one of a kind,
Can it be left behind?

I locked my love in a secret place,
Hoping there it would lay forever mine to keep,
But the furious questions have been taunting me since,
And my mind has turned wood with needles stuck deep,
Yet I place my love above the pain,
for my cherished love has turned into frightening rain.

Pouring inside my head,
Moistering and summoning my dark desires,
Of the dark, of the forced, of the dead.

And here I sit, thinking of affection
Is it a game to play, or chance to take,
Love has pointed me the wrong direction,
Love is nothing but a fake!
My secret place, nothing but empty space..
My secret place, just a discgrace..

My mind devoured,
My soul worn out,
Love corrupted my inner strength.
