Spore Editors + SC2?

Haha before you all freak out, just think about the concept for a second.

I'm sure you all have heard of Spore the new game thats coming out that features a whole bunch of editors, ranging from the creature editor to the vehicle editor to the building editor and so on and so forth. Now each of these models only take a very small amount of memory to do procedural generation. This would keep the map size low and allow everyone to create custom models with relative ease!

Now I know this won't be implemented in starcraft 2, but hey we can dream right?

That could be rather awesome, but like konerman mentioned, they look to cartoonish.

Well thats because the vehicle editor hasn't been released :p And like the cartoonish style has become spores style, but with some tweaking you could easily give attachments that have the nitty gritty feel of starcraft. Would be cool!

I give you 3 thumbs up for the idea.

Because i have a lot of Unit ideas that require such an editor

They should just have a model editing program available to the modding community once the game is released.... and what I mean by that is one that actually works and allows people to create models of the SC2 file type without major issues (unlike warcraft 3 where modelling is a pain in the ass coz the tools work like s@#%!)

Valve released a version of the modelling program they used for Half-Life 2 to the public, so it shouldn't be a big issue for blizzard to do the same.

With a modelling tool that works you can create whatever you wan't, it doesn't have to be restricted to sets of googly eyes and insect legs.

Think about the extended possibilities; the more you do in SC2, the more you can add to certain tanks/goliaths (after designing their hulls and traction systems); the same for Toss. Then Zerg... well I don't think it needs to be said!

Of course, this would/could completely offset the balance of Starcraft.

@Murdermode

The googly eyes and insect legs are a result of EA's style, not the limitations of the engine, the people at blizzard could make some REALLY neat stuff.

@Chao

Not so much the aspect I was looking at but that would be neat, I just mean for map makers and everything like that.

It sounds like a neat idea. But it should not be just as cudly as the spore editor is.
Then they would need some features:
Unique parts for each race
Special abilities for each separate race
and so on..
Else if it would be a blend between the two directly they could just rename it cudlecraft and while their at it throw in a little black and white aswell and the result is:

Code:
[SIZE="3"][COLOR="White"]CudleCraftWhite ed.[/COLOR][/SIZE] [SIZE="3"]CudleCraftBlack ed.[/SIZE] [SIZE="3"][COLOR="Gray"]CudleCraftGrey ed.[/COLOR][/SIZE]

    Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

    Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
    I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
    Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
    So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
    I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
    Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
    Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
