RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil - One of Brazil's last uncontacted Indian tribes has been spotted in the far western Amazon jungle near the Peruvian border, the National Indian Foundation said Thursday.

The Indians were sighted in an Ethno-Environmental Protected Area along the Envira River in flights over remote Acre state, said the Brazilian government foundation, known as Funai.

Funai said it photographed "strong and healthy" warriors, six huts and a large planted area. But it was not known to which tribe they belonged, the group said.

"Four distinct isolated peoples exist in this region, whom we have accompanied for 20 years," Funai expert Jose Carlos Meirelles Junior said in a statement.

Find out more about it here.

Isn't it against the Prime Directive to fly a helicopter over people who have no concept of flight? Those tribesman are probably crapping a huge brick about now :(

Yeah true...
I have a bad feeling about that.

'We did the overflight to show their houses, to show they are there, to show they exist,' said uncontacted tribes expert Jos
Great expert.

Haha! I laughed out loud.

Oh man, this is so great. I'm slightly spectacle of the validation of this article... But if we ever do study these people I'd love to get the data! I'm so excited! This discovery is awesome! I bet they thought of the helicopter as a demon, god, or some type of animal that they believed their greatest warriors could kill off. I wonder if there are sub tribes, which is very possible! Oh boy! Oh boy!

EDIT: I just read the full article. I'll have to check out what information they have about these "Indians" now.

I love how ones pitch black and the other two are orange. It's probably some kind of ranking but it's still pretty sweet. Also, Bows vs Choppa = Epic!

This kind of makes you wonder how many more uncontacted human civilizations live out there.

What and watch them live normally?
There people too...

We have all rights to fly airplanes, and helicopters above their heads

Yea well, until now we thought that these guys didn't exist and mistakenly took their land without knowing. For all we know they have air traffic control laws that we keep breaking but they can't get their arrows up high enough.

I wonder if any of the other uncontacted tribes have invented anything that we haven't, that'd be interesting :D..

It also makes me wonder if somehow there's an uncharted island somewhere, or maybe a civilization in the middle of nowhere that are more advanced than us. 99% sure that's not true, but crazy thought anyways..

They should do studies on them, to see the effects of living in our society. Also, the reaction to an outside force an such.. Not many people throughout people have suddenly realized that there was a huge world around them that they new nothing about.

"Uncontacted" doesn't mean quite the same thing as "undiscovered".

Anthropologists say almost all of these tribes know about western civilization and have sporadic contact with prospectors, rubber tappers and loggers, but choose to turn their backs on civilization, usually because they have been attacked.

And:

While "uncontacted" Indians often respond violently to contact — Meirelles caught an arrow in the face from some of the same Indians in 2004 — the greater threat is to the Indians.

And of course:

Survival International estimates about 100 tribes worldwide have chosen to avoid contact, but said the only truly uncontacted tribe is the Sentinelese, who live on North Sentinel island off the coast of India and shoot arrows at anyone who comes near.

It's not that they're just simple cavemen, and our metal birds and thunder sticks frighten and confuse them. They know exactly who we are and what our civilization is going to do to them -- after a few hundred years of plagues, warfare and pollution, I guess the word spread -- and they will try to kill anybody who trespasses on their property.

(+Rep for the first person to identify the "simple caveman" reference.)

Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
