virgin media, downloading games and software

I'm not very good when it comes to internet but when downloading games (E.G - WoW or other online games) Over the internet it takes really long to download. Is there a way to configure this? My internet is fine running the games / software. But the downloading time is redicolous.

I'm currently downloading a game called 'Rift' and my friend downloaded it within an hour, I'm currently 75% done and it's took me 5+ hours.

a quick google shows that it's a 7gb+ download , so while ~ 136 kb/sec isn't really a fast speed, it's not a horrible speed either, especially consideirng that it's an average speed over a fairly long period of time

also possible that your ISP is throttling your speed if you have been downloading lots of large games/files/etc.
