Warcraft 3 Idea Subforum

If you go around the world editor help zone, a good quarter of it is endless 'looking for spell/item/hero/map ideas'. Which isn't necessarily bad, but it seems that these threads keep getting made because the posters don't go and search through the past pages.

So, I was thinking that there could be a Warcraft 3 Idea forum, where people could jot down their ideas or make their own. The Hive has a similar subforum but its for maps only.

I think it would be nice for those looking for ideas, so there's less of the same old idea threads over and over again. Not to mention it would be helpful to the community, as often it is hard to find inspiration for certain aspects of a game.

So you want a forum to post your Ideas, then have someone steal them?
Or give them on purpose to somebody.

You know, Some people don't mind alowing other people use their ideas. And most of the time they are to busy with other things to do all of their ideas anyways.

Ideas are ment to be shared. Plus anyway Idc they are just ideas to make warcraft better.... Like if you have a cool idea for a trigger to create a effect. then I would post it so other people can see it and learn from it.

Well that would be expecting the worst of everybody.

If such a forum was made I would imagine most people would go to request ideas, such as what's done in the world editor help zone, or to submit ideas and ask how they are.

If you post your ideas your intending for people to take them, not steal them. Stealing would be someone unknowingly take ideas or items of yours.

If you're discussing a topic, then the topic should be discussed in the thread providing the topic... unless you're talking about a personal argument or something...

How I understood it, It would be for putting out ideas for anyone to take, or requesting ideas (Like spell ideas) which I see plenty of. Personally, I would hate to PM every member on the entire site to ask for ideas, or recieve many PM's like that..

EDIT: Btw, I think its a very good idea, too.

Agreed. But I don't think we need to add another forum to display our ideas so other members can use them. Maybe a guideline would help the members and staff know where ideas should go though. An example would be: "All threads containing a map concept that you, the thread poster, would like to share with members for their use should go in such-and-such forum."

A massive sticky thread with lots of gathered ideas from different threads sounds more acceptable than a new forum.

At least, to me.

Well, If it was used to ask for ideas as well, a thread wouldn't really work out too well.

I am trying to keep the number of new forums in the Warcraft area down. We should use Sticky Threads for stuff like this or maybe just one thread and if it gets wildly popular then we could do a subforum.

As I see it, the thread would be locked, so no spamming.

And it would be maintained every once in a while by somebody.

For adding new ideas or suggestions.

I guess I can take care of locking/unlocking the thread and keeping the spam away
as long as there is somebody willing enough to update it.

How come you're so into recipes lately? Never saw this much interest in this topic in the old days of TH.net

Hmm, how do I change my signature?
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I am not big on the recipes I am just promoting them - I use the site as a practice place promoting stuff

@tom_mai78101 I must be blind. If I go on my profile I don't see any area to edit the signature; If I go to account details (settings) I don't see any signature area either.

You can get there if you click the bell icon (alerts) and choose preferences from the bottom, signature will be in the menu on the left there https://www.thehelper.net/account/preferences

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
