are you going to show peoples chip amount by like doing how much gold they have? or actually use units as "chips" different colours so other players can tell how much money each player has?

At the moment, I was thinking of using the gold coin model for chips...

I love the sound of that...

...but who knows, that's a very nice idea - units that represent chips.



Though I will be using images for cards, why not create a unit on top the card, too, to give it a more 3D look.

Nice.


And I got my computer back from the repair so I can start working on it, finally.

A little preview how the cards will be dealt.

Press escape to execute the little demonstration.

(Uses units instead of images and deals cards to all players. In the real version, only player who are sat in at the table will receive cards)

I had a brilliant brainstorm yesterday!

I am going to replace the images with units, which look like cards.

However, in order to do that, I need someone to model for me...


I even made hand-drawn piece of artwork, no matter it came out really stinky.

As you can see, the cards are supposed to be quite thick, with round edges and with a size (2 to A) and suit (clubs, diamonds, hearts, spades) on the top.

It is supposed to look a little bit cartoonish.

Next, the cards should have that little glow, what the "Tome of X" in Warcraft have, in its right (or left) corner.

Lastly, about animation. The cards should hover up and down a little bit, just like, for example, "Tome of Agility", but it should not rotate (who would play poker, when the cards rotate?).


I hope I was clear enough and there is someone willing to model for me, because the task itself is quite labor-intensive (there are 52 different cards...).

I'll promise a reward (to be discussed) if someone makes me a "delivery", which I find suitable enough to use in the game.

If you really need models, I suggest you to go to hive or wc3campaigns, because there is much more modelers than here.

Seems like a real good project to me :)!

Though, what'll stop someone from just playing on an online poker site?

In saying this, you'll definately need to make the "map" original, professional, excellent, etc.

Nobody is stopping one from playing online poker at a online site, however, do they have a nice Warcraftish feeling? No.

Nobody is stopping one from eating a banana, too.

If you really need models, I suggest you to go to hive or wc3campaigns, because there is much more modelers than here.

So, I have worked a bit on the first Item thingy. I made a Custom Model, by using the Glyph as Basis, gave it a rectangular form, and made a Custom Skin for the Model (Also made the Gylph have a Green glow... Looks more unique in that color ^^)
It's looks kinda weird, but I really suck at Skinning :S So, you'll need to get somene that can skin =)
Anyways, here is a Preview, of how it looks like:

Pratically, you just need to edit the Gylph Skin, since I have the Base Model. You can ask anytime for me to remap this Model ^^ Just takes a few moments ;)

*EDIT: Do you want this non-Rotating? Oh, BTW, I think there is too much particle Action. Should I remove some of this? That would also render the Size of the Model by about 50%...

It certainly has the right shape now.

Is the semi-transparent glow around the card an editor only thing or it shows up in-game?

Would be good if the glow had round edges, too.

What about the textures? Can you give me some measurement or a base?

It shows up in-game too.
But about the Edges... I already have used a Box-Primivtive, I can't Edit that right now. I would have to use a different Primitive, one, which would have more Polys.
About the Textures... take any WC3-Textures Size and halve it. On one half, paint the front of the Card on it. On the seconds half, paint the back of the Card.
I'll re-map the Model with the Texture.

I think so >.<
But, when you add Skins in WC3, you "Override" the existing Skin.
And somewhere here, there is a tut on how to make a Unit have more Skins...

    Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though

    I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work

    Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm

    So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man

    I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.

    Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart

    Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
