What's the difference between JASS and New gen JASS

I just don't get it. I've been looking at the files and seen there are some MPQs but my question is: Is there any real difference in "the languge" or most of things I write in New Gen JASS will work in JASS and it is just a bunch of debugging tools? If there are any differences in the language, I would like if someone could make clear enough what are the advantages of using NewGen (functions, variable types, etc and what they are better than normal JASS for).

basically u can write jass in vjass. If you have vJass, jasshelper will compile it into jass. However, vJass provides many crazy features.

NewGen Jass is known as vJass. It basically extends JASS with additional syntax and some cool features.

you can have libraries, globals and structs and other 600 features nobody really needed.
