I'll meet you in Buffalo, traveling along the coast up from Winchester, Va. Hopefully in my journeys I'll come across a boat in good working order with no more than one crazy person on it, and we'll have something to get us to Greenland without trekking through Canada so much. Just bring whatever you can with you, and as long as we don't freeze to death, we should be alright.

It'll take me about ten days to get there I think; I'll light off a flare every night at five and eight. You do the same, and we'll move towards each other. I don't know if there will be zombies or not, but I'm not lighting fireworks off and sitting in the same place if there's a chance there are. I think we should set the date to find each other on the New Year.

Alright, we should probably aim to meet somewhere closer to Ohio, then. How much is a flare gun? I've got plenty of road flares but the visibility on those would be marginal by comparison. Shit, what kinda question is that, even? By the time I need one, it'll only cost a bullet to the dome of the man carrying it.

I think if we met somewhere at the Great Lakes it would be a good plan. I'm definitely one for water over land in zombie times, so if we can secure a vessel then we could make it all the way into Canada, and from there we won't have as much to worry about (zombie-wise) since the place is so damn big. If I ain't there by New Years, though, give me three more days; you never know when you'll have to hit it on foot, and with a huge pack I'd probably only be moving at about 20 miles/day. If that's too slow for you... well, let's just hope the cars make it, then.

I don't know, I have big bottle rockets I got in Utah.

We also have to be prepared for just some crazy virus. In which case we'll need to get respirators. I have one because I used to cut tile and concrete, but I don't know if that's very effective against micro-organisms. I don't think it is. So our best bet is to maybe hit somewhere with a clean room, like a computer processing plant or something, and get something from there, but that's really dangerous, and will make the trip a lot harder, especially if it's airborne.

I expect my car to break down by the time I get through New Mexico. I expect to be finding a new one there, ideally a motorcycle. However, I know there's a small town with a distribution warehouse of mini-bikes somewhere around the border to New Mexico, and I'm going to try and find it and take one. I could get mine up to 75 before I broke it after I ripped the governor off. And they're light, if necessary I could fairly easily carry it, especially in the event I lose my pack.

But but "you had a magic carpet.. didn't you? So leave the unicorn alone.

Hmm
A unicorn is like 10 times better! An invisible one is still like 8.5 times better.

After all, a carpet can not shoot lazors from its eyes, even if its magic.
Edit: Maybe those from the future can though, i dont know, but this ones not from the future i guess.

Edit2: At least, if it can shoot lazors, i dont know where to put the batteries to make it able to. Why does it need batteries at all? Crappy future.

lol Would you recommend It to "Fatmankev, and Varine?" Instead of Mini Bikes?
Well, how in the world would they escape from zombies with Mini Bikes! Just imagine it.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though

I think we need to add something to the bottom of the front page that shows the Headline News forum that has a link to go to the News Forum Index so people can see there is more news. Do you guys see what I am saying, lets say you read all the articles on the front page and you get to the end and it just ends, no kind of link for MOAR!
