Help in beating CHEATS!

do like accname said..
create a dummy for neutral hostile, and one for all players
if the dummy owned by neutral hostile dies, they will get disconnected
notes:
the players dummy must have 1-1 damage..
the neutral hostile dummy must have 100 life, and 50reg per second! =)

5 life, and 2 reg per second would be adequate^^

@free killing: That doesn't help most of the issues, just a few specific ones.

@Tyreal: I think we have established by now that it is quite possible to hack a map. The thing you seem to be missing is that (the majority of) people who insert cheatpacks or hacks into maps do not understand how it is done and could not do it without instruction if their life depended on it. Adding verification to functions would be interesting, and would successfully beat 90% of people attempting to hack your map, seeing as they won't even look at the code.

Hmm... function by function verification. Sounds like the makings of a system to me...

Since TheHelper.net doesn't support map unprotecting/mpqbrowsing/hacking I can't tell you guys how I fixed the problem.

//I fixed it and disabled more or less like the most cheat pack activators so it is impossible for noobs to hack this and for experts it will be some hard time.

Thanks to esb, through you I made something extra ordinary in the .j files (& not only in the .j files [3rd party programms| russian PWER!])

It would be extremely difficult to stop hackers from creating heats in your map, almost impossible. Anything you create can be changed. Blocking the activators has no affect as you forget they can remove those blocks. Save/Loading can be enabled in singleplayer, nomatter how hard you make it. The best thing you can do is fill the map with all kinds of different triggers to make it more of a pain to hack than they want to handle. It is true though that it makes most noobs turn away.

I am loathe to quote myself but...

Not yet, no.

Or ever. Trigger or function verification is, by design, not possible. There might be some other sort sort of scripted non-protection that people choose to call trigger verification, but it will be nothing more than a label for a technique in that case, and would in no way resemble an actual verification process.

I find it hard to believe you have scripted any real sort of protection against common cheat pack activators. Remember that good Jass editing tools come with the 'Find' functionality.

How about since i tried implementing a cheatpack into a game successfully just to see if it would work, which it did, i've noticed that you cannot implement 2 cheatpacks into the game. What you could do is implement a cheatpack into your game but remove the activator so you can't use the cheats and people can't use their own cheats.

@ tyman
that would cause syntax errors then u need like a special we to save game with syn errors other wise it wont work

No it wouldn't, not if you made the activator like 300 random charactors.

You would have to implement the cheats into the .j file everytime you saved the map. Whenever you open the map it and save it, it clears the cheats.

@TheDamien

I suspect I may be using terms that I do not understand, or have a completely different meaning in 'real' programming. If I come up with something I will post it, but I suspect as you have pointed out it will be a pale imitation of true verification.

News portal has been retired. Main page of site goes to Headline News forum now
  • The Helper The Helper:
I am working on getting access to the old news portal under a different URL for those that would rather use that for news before we get a different news view.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Easily done

  • The Helper The Helper:
https://www.thehelper.net/pages/news/ is a link to the old news portal - i will integrate it into the interface somewhere when i figure it out
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Need to try something
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Hopefully this won't cause problems.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Hmm
  • Ghan Ghan:
I have converted the Headline News forum to an Article type forum. It will now show the top 20 threads with more detail of each thread.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    See how we like that.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do not see a way to go past the 1st page of posts on the forum though
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is OK though for the main page to open up on the forum in the view it was before. As long as the portal has its own URL so it can be viewed that way I do want to try it as a regular forum view for a while
  • Ghan Ghan:
Yeah I'm not sure what the deal is with the pagination.
  • Ghan Ghan:
It SHOULD be there so I think it might just be an artifact of having an older style.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I switched it to a "Standard" article forum. This will show the thread list like normal, but the threads themselves will have the first post set up above the rest of the "comments"
  • The Helper The Helper:
I don't really get that article forum but I think it is because I have never really seen it used on a multi post thread
  • Ghan Ghan:
RpNation makes more use of it right now as an example: https://www.rpnation.com/news/

I will have to get used to this.
