Base spells

What are the best spells to use as base spells when I want to create a spell with:
-signle enemy target
-ground target(point)
-ground OR enemy unit
-ground(AoE)

please tell me because I am really having problems making spells since there are always some side effects I fail to remove...

you can do all that with it

-single enemy target: Storm Bolt

-ground target: Impale?, Shockwave/Carrion Swarm?

-ground target or enemy unit: Breath of Fire, make it has no special effect and deal no damage

-ground: AoE: War Stomp, Silence or Cloud

Or Channel ofcourse

But it doesn't seem to work. I add it to my unit, but it doesn't show when I start the game...

you need to check the Options - Visible box in object editor

I only know this one:

Targeting Image
you know when you are casting blizzard or flamestrike and that green circle appears when you are targeting?

that's it

by setting area of effect you set the circle's radius

That sounds quite useful. Anyone can explain other ones?
EDIT: Or not? What circles, those whic are annoying you mean? When the spell is already cast?

There are many things in the object editor that don't seem to have much purpose, or any apparent one at all. As for the universal, physical, etc, it probably has something to do with damage type. But it probably won't make a difference no matter what you use.

edit - except for the targeting image thing, the others are shrouded in mystery.

What circles, those whic are annoying you mean? When the spell is already cast?

if you leave the Targeting Image unticked you will have that simple blue crosshair

if you tick it you'll get that fancy green circle when you are targeting (it's recommended for AOE spells)
unless you set the area of effect to 0.00 (you wont see anything then...)

but you must have the spell as "Unit/point targeted", not instant
