You can use The Draw card and sacrifice enemy essences and thats not right...

I'll fix that.

I think the dragon channeler's tap ability is imba if there are like 4 on the field

Maybe, but it's near impossible to have four in play, since you can only have 4 identical cards in your deck, you have to draw all four then, and even then, they are still 1/1 creatures that can't use their ability on the turn they are summoned. For example the Overconfident Acolyte can kill all 4 of them with one ability.

The defenders are just plain rigged

What do you mean? Do you mean the deck or the blocker ability. If you mean the deck, what elements are to strong / to weak?

But i love the idea and card games....can i maybe have an open version to see how you got the triggers to work...ill give all credit to you of course

Thx, if you pm me your email adress, i'll send you an open version.

Thx for testing and giving feedback.

EDIT: I have uploaded a new version of the map. It includes an all new deck building system that allows to build custom decks.

Uploaded a new version with small modifications.

Added 1 new card (haven't had much time for mapping): Raging Goblin

Haven't worked on the map much lately.

I've been wondering, since I've gotten the impression that people don't tend to join 2 player maps, if I should extend the map to 4 players.

I thought of making a four player arena out of the current two player. So that it would be possible to play 1v1, 2v2, 1v1v1 or 1v1v1v1.

What's do you think?

I gave it another go, this time 2 player with my brother.

We both concluded pretty quickly that the game was to slow placed & the mechanics didn't work out that well.
Generally we'd just summon a monster attack, then hed do same, then Id so same, over & over. Often I'd attack killing my own monster, lol :p

But yea, currently I really think the game as a whole needs to be made alot faster:
  • Mana/Essence could just go straight out the window & instead simply give your caster a mana pool, where you simply gain +10 at the start of your turn. This also means a hand of 5 cards is alot more exciting & diverse.
  • Units, IMO they currently to boring. Generally should try to keep them all special & powerful in their own way. Currently they generally mostly just seem cannon fodder/pawns, where you just spam summon as many as you can & keep attacking. You don't feel any special association/attachment to them.
  • 2 Players, agreed its too limited. We need 12 player chaos duels!!

Did you ever try Card Shuffle out? I think that type of gameplay would work out alot better, where the game is in real time.
It would make the gameplay alot simpler & faster. Plus as a bonus 12 players would be easy to incorporate.

I'd always be willing to help out :).
I'm pretty decent with jass & got a few maps under my belt. Either way good luck with your map.

I am currently making an all new version of the map, with changed combat mechanics and mana management. Making it a 4 player map, so you can play 1v1 or 1v1v1 or 1v1v1v1 or 2v2. But i'm definetly not planning to change it to realtime. Besides I've always had the impression that maps like card shuffle are even more maps of the type summon en kill. Then I prefer Wacraft 3 card game, similar to Card shuffle, but at least it features custom deck building. I really wanted to make a turnbased cardgame.

But hey, no fuzz, thanks for all the interest you've taken in the map and definetly try the new version that will come in some time.

Ok, then I strongly recommend making players Share turns, so the game can still maintain some speed, without needing to cycle through every single persons turn.
This way can also slowly expand to 3v3, 4v4 etc. overtime.

So basically, when the time runs out, or both players have ended a phase it goes to the next.

Oh, I forgot to add, I'd recommend making it so Units can attack/cast spells straight away. Except the first ever turn of the game. It would speed it up as a whole & make it alot more interesting.
You can lure ppl out with decoy's then hit them back with counter attacks.

Another possiblity is to give unit's mana pools & have attack costs mana, other abilities costing more mana. Each turn they generate mana. So say example:

Necromancer:
Attack - Costs 2 mana
Cripple - Costs 4 mana
(Starts & Generates 2 mana per turn).

Adds another element in there, where you can have mana burn, regeneration etc.
Like say a Spell that Fillups a unit's mana instantly to max & a unit that would normally need 3 turns to fillup with a big spell. A nice combo appears :)

Yea that sounds like a great idea. Definetly going to use it. I'm also going to mention you in the credits for all the help and comment you've given so far.

Also I've retought the turn mechanism, there's just going to be one turn for all players. So the turn starts; players get mana; and can do their actions, when everyone has pressed end turn or the timer expires, a new turn starts. That way you'll never have to wait for the other player, since everyone shares the same turn.

Sniff....ruined it to me....in real card games you have to wait...where the order...you could just randomly kill things....i liked the Magic The gathering feel....oh well i guess

Not neccesarily, have you ever played the Warlord card turn. In this game, the player does one action, then the next player does one action, etc.. until back at the first player when the cycle repeats until all players have agreed to end turn and then you untap all your cards and draw new cards.

By the way, not every action in magic is determined by the order. For example tap abilities, instants, ect...

I might decide to continue work on both versions, but I have a totally new concept for the new version and I'm seeing if I can work it out decently.

ur still awesome XD for making it.....at least 2 of my battlenet friends spam "Dual" when i get on

I'm working on the system and have almost a demo deck ready. But I haven't had a lot of time since I'm doing a holiday job: picking pears.

But I'm working as fast as I can.

Hey, just wanted to say I thought the map was shaping up well, there aren't that many decent card maps out there :D

News portal has been retired. Main page of site goes to Headline News forum now
  • The Helper The Helper:
I am working on getting access to the old news portal under a different URL for those that would rather use that for news before we get a different news view.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Easily done
    +1
  • The Helper The Helper:
https://www.thehelper.net/pages/news/ is a link to the old news portal - i will integrate it into the interface somewhere when i figure it out
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Need to try something
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Hopefully this won't cause problems.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Hmm
  • Ghan Ghan:
I have converted the Headline News forum to an Article type forum. It will now show the top 20 threads with more detail of each thread.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    See how we like that.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do not see a way to go past the 1st page of posts on the forum though
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is OK though for the main page to open up on the forum in the view it was before. As long as the portal has its own URL so it can be viewed that way I do want to try it as a regular forum view for a while
  • Ghan Ghan:
Yeah I'm not sure what the deal is with the pagination.
  • Ghan Ghan:
It SHOULD be there so I think it might just be an artifact of having an older style.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I switched it to a "Standard" article forum. This will show the thread list like normal, but the threads themselves will have the first post set up above the rest of the "comments"
  • The Helper The Helper:
I don't really get that article forum but I think it is because I have never really seen it used on a multi post thread
  • Ghan Ghan:
RpNation makes more use of it right now as an example: https://www.rpnation.com/news/
