I do hope you mean in a fashion similar to what I suggested... not just putting everyones name on a list and people click on whom they want to vote for.

If I come up with an idea, I might enter... but as for that idea, who knows...

It's ok you know if you don't enter... :D

Oh yeah, almost done with my hero thanks to the help of SBS.

So weres the "right version"?

And yeah, your heros ok besides the bugs..

okay this should be the right version :p. say if there's any big mistakes or bugs. then your nice xD :)

Is it allowed to use spells that you have previously made and submitted to TH.net or anywhere else (I -MIGHT- enter if it is, since I can't really think of many new spells, but I could probably think of something that'd synergize well with the spell I've created)
If you dont use there code. You have to remake it yourself...

What I meant was:
If I made spell X (long before this contest was ever created), and submitted it to this site/another site, would I still be allowed to use spell X for my hero?

i dont think so :p

When is the deadline?

*Edit*
And I believe judgeing is spelled judging. However in this case, a more grammatically correct solution would be judges.

Furberg those spells are quite boring since only one of them uses triggers and the one that does could be done without it...

No..

@Tom jones: In first post it said:
Deadline:
  • Contest will start in a week and last 3 weeks, unless people ask it to change.

Elementalist.

Learns:

-Mystical Healing - Restores 15\20\25 hit points to nearby friendly units and yourself. Up to 4\5\6 units healed.

-Static Storm - The Elementalist sends out 6\7\8 electric balls of energy out to deal 50\75\100 damage to nearby targets.

-Tides of Justice - Summons five waves from the deep around the Elementalist to deal 75\100\125 damage each.

-Elemental Mastery - The Elementalist has mastered the use of his spells, causing each spell to have additional effects. Causes Mystical Healing to automatically heal the Elementalist for 25 additional HP. Causes Static Storm to charge the Elementalist with energy for 10 seconds causing him to deal 10 bonus damage on attack. Causes the waves caused by Tides of Justice to turn into 150 HP, 10 damage, Water Elementals, that last 30 seconds.

All spells were created by Anman64 for the use of this contest.

Credits go to rageingspeedhorn for his Elemental Fury icon, I simply modified it, making it passive.

Credits also go to Tinki3 for his Spells Test Map Template that I am using right now.
_______

Remember, you don't vote on how "exciting" the spells are, but how well they go together.

They could all be done without triggers. But they actually fit together quite nicely. However, the one that is triggered, leaks.

Ok, wait, 2 things:

1: Can you submit more than 1 hero?

2: Is anyone going to approve this contest, before we all make our heroes for nothing?

>Remember, you don't vote on how "exciting" the spells are, but how well they go together.

Hmm...

"My hero could have fireball, fireblast, fire nova, and firestorm and it would win the contest? I mean, they go well together, even if they're untriggered/ugly."

Answer: Trash.

The spells have to be somewhat cool.

> 2: Is anyone going to approve this contest, before we all make our heroes for nothing?

Thinking about it, it looks good. :)

> They could all be done without triggers. But they actually fit together quite nicely. However, the one that is triggered, leaks.

Alright you guys give too much credits to "fitting" together. Coding is important, as is every spell.

And if you post a non-triggered spell, it seriously has to be very exciting. Otherwise, I wouldn't count on it.

No those don't go well together actually, they all deal damage and none of them are with synergy with each other.

About the being approved, does that mean the winner(s) get an icon? :D

Theme...? Lol :p

>About the being approved, does that mean the winner(s) get an icon?

No, unfortunately. It just means that it can happen.

News portal has been retired. Main page of site goes to Headline News forum now
  • The Helper The Helper:
I am working on getting access to the old news portal under a different URL for those that would rather use that for news before we get a different news view.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Easily done

  • The Helper The Helper:
https://www.thehelper.net/pages/news/ is a link to the old news portal - i will integrate it into the interface somewhere when i figure it out
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Need to try something
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Hopefully this won't cause problems.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Hmm
  • Ghan Ghan:
I have converted the Headline News forum to an Article type forum. It will now show the top 20 threads with more detail of each thread.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    See how we like that.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do not see a way to go past the 1st page of posts on the forum though
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is OK though for the main page to open up on the forum in the view it was before. As long as the portal has its own URL so it can be viewed that way I do want to try it as a regular forum view for a while
  • Ghan Ghan:
Yeah I'm not sure what the deal is with the pagination.
  • Ghan Ghan:
It SHOULD be there so I think it might just be an artifact of having an older style.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I switched it to a "Standard" article forum. This will show the thread list like normal, but the threads themselves will have the first post set up above the rest of the "comments"
  • The Helper The Helper:
I don't really get that article forum but I think it is because I have never really seen it used on a multi post thread
  • Ghan Ghan:
RpNation makes more use of it right now as an example: https://www.rpnation.com/news/
