DVD driver??

my laptop (toshiba satellite U400-10n) went crazy so i formatted it, i used the recovery disk but due to scratches, it wont continue. i used the normal Windows Vista Ultimate dvd, then during the setup (start of the set up) it says the cd/dvddriver is missing. and i cant find it any where. pls .help me. tnx

wait. you put the cd in and it says there is no cd but you cant find the cd? that doesnt make sense.

no, i put the cd, then the vista set up, looks for the dvd driver to continue the set up

what driver should i install and how? i tried downloading the dvd player and hardware setup, i unzipped it and copied it to a flashdrive. then i inserted it to the laptop but it still cant find the required driver

VISTA, XP? 64bit? 32bit?

Btw how are you trying to install the OS?

Go into the BIOS and set your primary boot to the Optical Drive.

You can't install those driver's without having an OS...

Vista, im not quite sure if its 32 or 64, but i have a 32 bit vista cd. it has a drive x, i dont know where it came from

btw, i placed the cd, restarted and booted from the cd. the vista installation setup looks for the driver to continue. hehe im not used to install on laptop by vista. i thought that it would be like XP with the blue screen then format and there you have it, tsk thanks for helping me
