A 14-year-old New Zealand girl nearly lost her eyesight when her eyes were gouged by relatives in a Maori exorcism ceremony in which her cousin died, a report said Monday.

The girl is recovering after emergency operations on her eyes to save her sight after relatives scratched at her eyes to remove the devil, the Dominion Post newspaper said, quoting unnamed sources.

Members of the indigenous Maori family also syringed water into her eyes and poured it down her throat in an attempt to drive out the curse.

The girl's cousin, 22-year-old Janet Moses, drowned during the October 12 ceremony, which reportedly left the house ankle deep in water.

Honestly, I know that this is their beliefs so they gotta do what they gotta do as that...
but Isn't that a bit extreme? Heck, the house was "ankle deep" in water and they almost killed her... for stealing a stone lion o_O

I find that comment to be against people who don't believe in God which we have a few here (Not me) but still... Try to stop making comments like that, that may start a flame war

There is exorcism to remove spirits from houses and people feel calmer from that...
All they have to do is hum around candles and say a prayer...

personally have no problem with the religious comments. Im attached to no religion, belief, or group. I'm learning up on the different philosophies, beliefs, religions, etc, simply cus its good to know about, (and the Bible is a pretty good book), but I dont consider myself Atheist, cus I have nothing against all religion in particular. Just none of the styles, if you will, fit my personal thoughts, and most fail to sway me.

I think if you're willing to start a fight over your personal opinions, you need to realize that other people have the ability to possess opinions and beliefs as well, and they're nothing to get worked up about.

Wow...I'm curious dunepeal, what do you believe? Is there a religion that you follow? I am a nondenominational Christian. I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal savior and in the Holy Bible as the word of God given to mankind. I am just curious how you hold beliefs in God, His judgment, of heaven and hell, but do not believe in certain elements of spiritual warfare such as exorcism, and in fact feel that if individuals do, they are condemned.

I have tangled with much spiritual warfare and it is even recorded in our history that Christ cast evil spirits out of individuals. I don't know that many people know or will acknowledge this, but the Bible is considered buy historical standards and methods to be the most certifiably historically accurate document on earth. It cites more than one instance of demons or evil spirits being cast out of the possessed.

I don't believe that I have ever been in need of an exorcism though I have been in need of the power and presence of the Holy Spirit to free me from tormenting demons; ones that even effected my very health. But given what I know, there would never be a need to gouge out someones eyes while trying to exorcise a foul spirit. Or drown them for the matter.

I think that this is probably done out of tradition based on what individuals without knowledge or wisdom have started to do in fear or in beliefs based on superstition. I didn't read the full story, there is every bit of a real chance that in these cases there was no possession, however, I have witnessed possession and can say that exorcism is real.

No holy water, candles, chantings etc, though these can help if the mind believes in their power. The ultimate is to pray in the name of Jesus Christ to fill them with the Holy Spirit. Demons will flee the presence of the Holy Spirit. In some cases the Holy Spirit will not be able to enter an individual based, not on the demon, but of their own subconscious disbelief, in which case praying to cast out the demon in the name of Jesus Christ should be attempted.

His name truly has power on earth and in heaven. Even those who will not see the Kingdom of God can use his name to cast out demons, though I would hope this makes him a believer.

I know some admins ( who shall remain nameless ) will give me flogging for this one but I still stand my ground; Wouldn't it be far more better for the poor thing if social security officials took her away from fucked up family like that ? I mean losing eyesight over some ritual performed by total nutcases ? I think everyone agrees with me when I say that this sort of shit should NOT be tolerated in any society in any form. Someone in my community did something like this, and I'd be pretty much willing to do time over beating seven shades of shit out of them. Call it excorcism

Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
