I want to find the centre in a new melee map(for keeping things in ratio like the doodads, taverns, start locations, etc) without using triggers can I?
Or is there any program that will help me in finding the centre?

Thanks if you help me
(Sorry if the question is very noobish)

I don't know why you need to find the center, if it's not for triggering. :p

But here's two ways:

*First is to close World Editor, and then open it again. -Your camera will now be set at the Center of the map.

*Check the X and Y points. Where X and Y are 00.00, is your map center.

My map is 128*96(Entire map) and 116*84(playable area).if i create a new region and change its settings to left, right, bottom, top to 0,0,0,0 respectively then it automatically changes itself to -32,0,0,32(as per the given order) is this normal and is this the exact centre ?

There is another alternate way.
Create region at any part of the map and set this trigger.

Event

Unit enter region000

Condition

Action

Unit - Move unit instantly to center of playable map.

Not sure if this works, but its just a thought.

You know how you can preview camera actions in the editor?

Can you preview a camera pan?

Don't think you can but again it's just a thought :p.

Yes you can. The Preview Camera Motion button appears if you add a Pan Camera action in GUI.

the centre of the editor isn't necessarily the centre of the playable map area (atleast on some of the maps i have made). Just turn the grid onto medium and the camera bounds on, count the squares up on one side and divide it by 2 to find one centre, count the squares across and divide it by 2 to find the other centre, find where they meet in the middle and place a temporary doodad to mark the location of the playable map's actual centre.

heres a thing i always used to do:

go into terrain and make a cross from top right corner to left bottom and from left top to bottom right,

where they meet, theres the middle
works best at small sizes, only at square ones though

Why bother... but then again, best bet would be the grid, hotkey G.
But remember that wc3's camera angle is not "top-down".
