Idea: Warcraft 3 Advertisements

Hey, well first off I would like to say that this is not my full idea. I must give credit to DefiGravity@USWest for originally telling me about it. ^^
Ok well a while back DefiGravity, turbo_negro and I had came up with a idea to advertise for companies inside Warcraft 3 games. Until recently have i really considered the idea. For instance, I would like to make models of banners and/or what the product is (i.e., a pepsi can) and just have random sponsors throughout the map. We could send the idea to a buisness's advertising department and hopefull make a few bucks from it =0. And somehow (using game cache's) track around how many games have been played, and charge around $1 per game played.

I really haven't started out on this project for I am working on 3 others. So, if anyone reading this thinks its a good idea to try then be my guest...

I don't think this is a good idea at all. I even think that it is against the Terms of Service presented by Blizzard. And i don't think you could track the amount of people in a game like your thinking. Also, 10$ a game? - More like 5cent's. No way a company would pay that much per game. Look at DOTA. 10$ a game and theirs well over 300 a day (if not more).

To be frank, I think it is a bad idea as well. Even if Blizzard notices or not, you should not be breaking the terms of service.

ANYWAYS: Bad idea, Blizzard will sue you, and companies won't pay. You'll pay them, for having the "privilege" to use their product in game.

Depends on the person.

This idea is like chasing waterfalls. 1. You can't track how many times your map is hosted, 2. It is illegal, 3. Try finding a company your not personal with thats willing to advertise, 4. The majority of your audience are 12-15 year olds.

Better to advertise website URLs.

hmm.... Well, I am pretty sure you are convinced that it is a bad idea, but I just want to add another facet to the tirade. I think that advertising cheapens most things. Nothing bothers me more than when advertisers find a new medium (don't you hate popups?). That being said, it WOULD be kind of cool if there was like a 7-Eleven model in your map, and it was a store that sold slurpies that replenished life+mana. Haha, that would be funny.

dude u just gave me an awesome idea for a map ^^ plus rep and many thx also credits in the game
... the idea is for my new maze to have a 7-11 (or any gas station type place) and be able to buy energey bars(boosts you for a period of time)/cafeine drinks(gives a speed aura)/gaterade (restores mana/health)
only problem is getting models... i can make icons but i suck badly at models
