Things like defective memory shouldn't slip past quality control. Maybe these people placed "rush orders" or the company can't keep up with year-end orders.

I had more of less the same problems earlier this year. First, the mainboard was dead-on-arrival and (after sending back RAM, CPU and mainboard), I ended up having a defective RAM module. Total delay: 3 months.

In the three computers I've custom built and the two I've purchased I have never had any RMA problems whatsoever from newegg. The only problem I've had with any product was an open box 20" LCD, with one minor scratch on the screen that isn't even noticeable when its turned on. It was only $150.00 regular $245.00 so I'm not complaining.

Don't worry about faulty products until it actually happened, reading reviews about people RMA'ing stuff can make you paranoid.

so if the comp says "Memory: 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 800" and "64 bit Dual Core Processor"

How many gigs of ram can i add?

Up to 8GB, assuming you're using 4 x 2GB modules. As mentioned in a previous post, you'll need either a 64bit OS or have to enable PAE for 32 bit versions (both could have a negative impact on software/driver compatibility). Otherwise, you're limited to 3.2GB.

As for the defective parts, it doesn't matter where you buy them: the failure rate depends on the manufacturer, not the online shop. Unless there are shady deals going on behind the scenes (e.g. pay more to get parts with higher quality tests), NewEgg is as likely to ship you a dead-on-arrival RAM module than any other dealer.

but since its already a 64 bit dual core processor, dosnt that mean i can have more than 3.2gb? And if i want 4 gb of ram, can I add another 2x1GB of DDR2 800 ram to the other 2gb that are already installed?

The 64bit CPU allows you to use a 64bit OS and the 64bit OS to address more than 3.2GB RAM without tweaks/hacks. See here for another quick discussion on 64bit Vista.

Yes, assuming you're adding the same kind. If the computer contains CL4 RAM modules, you might have to switch timings to CL5 to ensure a stable system. Not a big deal thou, as the performance loss is hardly noticeable. That's what I did, although I could use them in CL4 with a higher voltage.

do you know if the computer i wanted has cl4 ram modules?

I doubt it (not stated anywhere and most components are mainstream - not exppensive high-end: we're talking about a $1200 PC, not a $4000 one), but it's hard to say, as even the CyberPowerPC doesn't give any technical details about the RAM modules in its configurator.

If you really want that additional RAM, ask NewEgg to insert two identical modules.

how? just call them or what?

Yes, either send them an email or call them. They'll tell you whether its possible or not.

Other solution: order the RAM later, after taking a look inside the box. There's probably Corsair Value RAM inside, given the configurator defaults. Disadvantage: you'll be paying the shipping costs twice.

is that computer in that link the same in the one on newegg.com?

No, it's not. It's a configurator. You choose the parts you want inside your box and they assemble it. Yours is a holiday special, preconfigured from the one I linked to.

Signatures can be edit in your account profile. As for the old stuffs, I'm thinking it's because Blizzard is now under Microsoft, and because of Microsoft Xbox going the way it is, it's dreadful.

@tom_mai78101 I must be blind. If I go on my profile I don't see any area to edit the signature; If I go to account details (settings) I don't see any signature area either.

You can get there if you click the bell icon (alerts) and choose preferences from the bottom, signature will be in the menu on the left there https://www.thehelper.net/account/preferences

Crazy how much 3d printing has come in the last few years. Sad that it's not as easily modifiable though
  • Varine Varine:
I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm
  • Varine Varine:
So, 2.5mm longer. But the thing that measures the bed is about 1.5mm above the nozzle, so if I swap it with a volcano then I'm 1mm behind it. So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man
  • Varine Varine:
I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.
  • Varine Varine:
Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
  • Varine Varine:
Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though

Do you guys see what I am saying, lets say you read all the articles on the front page and you get to the end and it just ends, no kind of link for MOAR!
