item casting a spell question

is there any way to make an item cast a spell when you hit a enemy hero? like chain lighting storm bolt etc

Copy Ability:
Orb of Lightning (new)

I will explain first, Orb of Lightning (new) have Purge as the hit-chance ability!
And it's changeable!

Out from those nonsense talking anyway,

Create a custom ability for your hit-item, forexample Chain Lightning, set the name to Item Chain Lightning,

Change the
Stats - Mana Cost to 0
Stats - Cooldown to as you wish, this will be the item cooldown.
Stats - Cast Range to 5000.00
That's the main stats that must be change during the item making.

I told you to copy the Orb of Lightning (new) ability, then set the
Text - Name to Hammer Shock

Change the
Data - Effect Ability to Item Chain Lightning (The one we edited before)
Data - Damage Bonus to 0
Data - Enabled Attack Index to 0
Data - Chance to Hit Summons to as you wish (this is the %chance to summoned units)
Data - Chance to Hit Heros to as you wish (this is the %chance to heroes)
Data - Chance to Hit Units to as you wish (this is the %chance to units)

Then Create the Item you wanted, Hammer for example

Change the
Abilities - Abilities to Hammer Shock (we made before)

Give the Hammer to a hero

Play it!

You mean like, you got an item and if you left click it you can cast a spell?
Then first copy the chain lightning spell and change stats - hero ability to false and stats- item ability to true.
Then Choose your item, change abilities - abilities to the chain lightning copy, and last thing, on your item change stats - actively used.

have you tried the slow orb ability (by default an item ability) with chain lightning already?

ya i have tryed orb of slow with chain lighting but nothing happens it either dont work or i just messed it up either one

You hav to know something about this method, if you don't target a target unit, the spell effect will not trigger. You have to manually attack a target instead of allowing it to auto attack something.

You can use Attack-Move, instead of attacking the unit straight

(Attack-Move is where the unit is ordered attack to a point)
