I've read somewhere that you can't have 2 'local globals' in the same function. If thats your problem then you can try to convert your trigger to 'Custom Script' and remove every 'udg_' prefix that you find.

You can have 2 local globals in the same function. One time I had 34 globals in locals and they worked fine.

Code:
cross chop
    Events
Unit - A unit Starts the effect of an ability
    Conditions
(Ability being cast) Equal to Cross Chop
    Actions
        Custom script: local unit udg_slasher_caster
        Custom script: local unit udg_slasher_target
        [B]Set slasher_caster = (Casting unit)[/B] //Triggering unit faster
Set slasher_target = (Target unit of ability being cast)
Special Effect - Create a special effect attached to the weapon of slasher_caster using Abilities\Spells\Demon\DarkPortal\DarkPortalTarget.mdl
Special Effect - Destroy (Last created special effect)
        Wait 0.30 seconds
        [B]Unit - Move slasher_caster instantly to (Position of slasher_target)[/B] //LEAK
Unit - Cause slasher_caster to damage slasher_target, dealing (50.00 x (Real((Level of Cross Chop for slasher_caster)))) damage of attack type Chaos and damage type Normal
        Wait 1.00 seconds

There is a leak in your trigger (Do what you want).

I do not see where is the error. Where is exactly the error?

using some game messages, i found out that my local globals were not assigned to any units .. so thats the main problem ... to the triggers .. or game rather.. its as though the unit variables never existed

I have the exact same problem.

local unit myUnit

set myUnit = Triggering Unit

Game Message: "name of myUnit is: "+Unit Name(myUnit)

this returns null in game
It returns the name of the unit only when myUnit is not transformed into a local variable.

The strange thing is, when i copy and paste this into aa different map it works fine as usual. It's just on this particular map that it's bugged.

I don´t understand something, if you don´t have the local variable declared in "variables", how do you guys do the "set localvariable" trigger order. I also have problems with locals.

Sorry for noobness.

No you can't setup local variables in the variable editor because then they wouldn't be very local.
What you do is either do as phyrexian told you (that is, convert to custom text and remove all udg_ prefixes on your global variables) or you code in GUI with global variables and put the custom script "local unit caster" etc. before all the actions. And when you set the variables with the "set variable" action, you choose the global variable but it will actually be a local if you put the custom script in the beginning.

Or you could just learn JASS :)
