Since Mr. Red and "the man in the blue suit" are different people, this is the only possibility.

His hat is red because the other "two" don't know what their hats are so i assume the one white hat and one red hat are gone.. that leaves the 2 red 1 white the man walks in with 5 so that leaves 3 hats the man that walked in has two hats on and therefore the man that knows his hat is wearing a red hat?

1st intelligent man -red
2nd intelligent man -white
3rd intelligent man -red

the man that knows his hat color is wearing red he knows because he sees 1 red hat and 2 white hats being worn therefore he know she is wearing a red one.

Ah, I think I wasn't clear on something. The two leftover hats are not being worn, they are removed from sight. The two hats that the third man sees are on the heads of the other two men.

The first person looked at the two and said I don't know, so they couldn't both have white hats. The second person looked at them and said i don't know, they both couldn't have white hats. So, the third person saw that, one of them has a white hat, and he knows he doesn't have the other. Thus, he must have a red one.

This is of course assuming that the men know the number of hats of each colour.

And logic dictates - at least, my logic - that the third man's hat must be red.

I didn't read yours a read silver hawks reply and he said it was wrong so i just posted mine.

Just a Guess but if there are 5 hats 3 red and 2 white and ther are 3 men than that means there are only 3 possibal hat combanitions (r = Red hat, W = White hat)
RRR (3 reds, 0 Whites)
RRW (2 reds, 1 Whites)
RWW (1 Reds, 2 Whites)
but seince one man has a red hat and the other has a white one that elimanates the [RRR] leaving only 2 combanations possible. and since there are more red hats than white hats that means (useing Fractions) A Red hat would be more plausable [ red hat probility 3/5's | White hat Probilty 2/5's ] so i would say he has a red hat on, and knows this because he is (smart)

Well considering its a riddle you can't rely on a solution like that...what you're saying basically is that he knew it thanks to a lucky guess.
Pineapple's solution sounds right to me.
Hero's is confusing really, though it could be because I'm reading it at 3 am.
