Two maps in one?

I want that any hero would be able to enter one building in my map, and I thought that it would be best to make own map for that building.. So how can I make unit to enter another map when it enters a region?

I saw this system in TBR 2.0 but I have no idea how it is made.

+rep for helpers :)

What... you can enter other maps in The Black Road 2...? Or is it an other map? I mostly recall Everquest to have this feature.

When you choose a hero you are in a different map than the playing map, or atleast the minimap is much smaller. And if you type repick you get to there again.

So how do I do this or is there some way to show minimap only for certain region and/or make so you can't select anything outside the region?

Ah, you mean like that. I don't know how to do that, but would like to know too. :D And it's not new region, it's locked down at the most south western parts of the map.

If I understand this right, you just want to lock a player's camera to a set region, yes? If that's the case, then you would use a trigger to set the camera to that specific region. I think it would be camera - set bounds or something like that.

Cool. Found it :)
Trigger:
  • Camera - Set the camera bounds for Player 1 (Red) to (Current camera bounds)

You can either lock the camera to a region or to an unit:
Trigger:
  • Actions
    • Camera - Set the camera bounds for (Triggering Player) to (InsertYourRegionHere)
    • Camera - Lock camera target for (Triggering Player) to (Entering unit), offset by (0.00, 0.00) using Default rotation

I hope this helps

Edit: Damn, now you were faster :p

But this requires the area to be a square right? Or can I set the camera boundaries to many regions at the same time?

Thanks alot anyways

The bounds are the size of your Region. It's by default bound to playable map, which is a Region itself.

Yes but I mean can i add bounds to a region like this
Code:

| |
| |

Which has two regions in it of course.
I could lock the camera on my hero but i think it is lame and i dont like it :(

I can honestly say that I don't understand that example. You could otherwise do like this I believe:
Trigger:
  • Change
    • Events
      • Unit - A unit enters Region001<gen>
    • Conditions
    • Actions
      • Camera - Set the camera bounds for (Owner of (Triggering unit)) to Region001

Yeah i screwed the first example but now it should be fine?
Maybe i try explain what i mean: Normal region is like the white box you type your posts in, but when you copy that box and turn it 90 degrees and but it on the original box so the corners hit together you have a region shaped like a boot :)

It looks good now, however I'm pretty sure that's not possible to do. You'd have to use blackness in that empty area or do like I said with setting new camera bounds for new region.

Yea...make the mage hugeee!! and seperate it with something like boundarys and have it so the camera cant leave the bounds of ur first area and when you go into the building it PAns to that area and locks again.

If you want an irregular shape you can just put a boundary in the open spaces to fill out the shape you want.

Example:
lllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
llll.....................lllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
llll.....................lllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
llll....................................llll
llll....................................llll
llll.........lllllllll......................llll
llll.........lllllllllllllllll.................llll
llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

Actually, a rect is a square and a region is a combination of rects to make any shape. Thus, you can make lots of regions, break them into rects, then combine whatever rects to make your area.

Or use coords to make a region.

Or start out with rects and skip the first regions and just combine those rects.

This is, of course, assuming you know how to.

It's only in JASS, my friend.

GUI commands don't accept rects as rects and regions are different types. Just like Units and Unit-Groups are different types.

News portal has been retired. Main page of site goes to Headline News forum now
  • The Helper The Helper:
I am working on getting access to the old news portal under a different URL for those that would rather use that for news before we get a different news view.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Easily done

https://www.thehelper.net/pages/news/ is a link to the old news portal - i will integrate it into the interface somewhere when i figure it out
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Need to try something
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Hopefully this won't cause problems.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Hmm
  • Ghan Ghan:
I have converted the Headline News forum to an Article type forum. It will now show the top 20 threads with more detail of each thread.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    See how we like that.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do not see a way to go past the 1st page of posts on the forum though
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is OK though for the main page to open up on the forum in the view it was before. As long as the portal has its own URL so it can be viewed that way I do want to try it as a regular forum view for a while
  • Ghan Ghan:
Yeah I'm not sure what the deal is with the pagination.
  • Ghan Ghan:
It SHOULD be there so I think it might just be an artifact of having an older style.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I switched it to a "Standard" article forum. This will show the thread list like normal, but the threads themselves will have the first post set up above the rest of the "comments"
  • The Helper The Helper:
I don't really get that article forum but I think it is because I have never really seen it used on a multi post thread
  • Ghan Ghan:
RpNation makes more use of it right now as an example: https://www.rpnation.com/news/
