What To Base An Auto-Cast, Initial And/Or DoT Damage Spell (With Debuff)

Unlike my other thread, I now need an auto-cast spell, that has an initial and/or (It HAS to have a DoT, the initial damage is optional), adds onto the heroes auto-attack when off cooldown (Think Searing Arrows), and, finally, provides a debuff on the unit.

With that said, I've tried:
Poison Arrows; Which don't provide a debuff.
Poison; Which is passive.
Parasite; Which doesn't add onto attack.

Anyone know of a spell that has what I want?
I would, strongly, prefer not to trigger this spell.

Could work.
Although if I need bounty, kills made by Inner Fire wouldn't give bounty, AFAIK.
Let me test it.


EDIT: Ya, it doesn't give bounty.
I'll use it for now, since I don't have bounty in my map;
But I still need an ability that will work (And give bounty!).

Hmm, Parasite requires the hero to just stand there, not be attacking.
I want something that just adds onto his attack when it's off cooldown (Searing Arrows, for instance).

I'll use it for now, since it's the best I've got;
But still looking for that perfect ability.


Added that it should just add onto his auto-attack (Think Searing Arrows).

I don't think there's any other DoT spell, except for Parasite and Black Arrow. But those don't work on heroes, do they? So we need at least a simple trigger, accompanied with most probably searing arrows.

I want something that just adds onto his attack
Poison Arrows. Note that it only works for units which were originally a ranged unit before editing; it's buggy like that.

when it's off cooldown (Searing Arrows, for instance).
Uh-oh. All these autocast-on-attack abilities won't enter cooldown if the unit hadn't been ordered to attack (eg. if it auto-acquires a target); they are all buggy like that. Unless you're willing to get into workarounds (eg. trigger a direct attack order whenever a unit acquires a target; this breaks Hold Position), I would avoid wanting any on-attack spells with cooldowns.

Black Arrow doesn't do a DoT either, do they?

I guess I'll just have to trigger something, darnit :p

I just noticed that Black Arrow has data for "Damage Interval" and "Secondary Damage". Might want to look into it.

Your unit is copied from a unit that was originally ranged, or not? (As mentioned when I suggested the ability.)

I don't have WC3 with me at the moment but I'm pretty sure it applies a buff; otherwise it wouldn't do damage over time...

Why doesn't this work!
I copied Dark Ranger.
Changed her to melee.
Made it based off Poison Arrows.
Gave it a new debuff.

Still doesn't apply the buff, and doesn't even do a DoT!

Ah, I didn't know, but also the hero must have Missile attack type. :banghead:

You can still fake a melee attack with no missile art, 0 missile speed, and the usual melee range (it will even say range: Melee in game). Tested and working (but kludgish).

Now it's showing the poison debuff, even though I've changed it to my custom one, lol..
Maybe change the order strings?

    I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work

    Luckily I have a 3d printer for that, I guess. But it's ridiculous. The regular volcanos are 21mm, these Sovol versions are about 23.5mm

So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man

    Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart

    Partsbuilt has individual parts I found but they're expensive. I think I can get bits swapped around and make this work with generic shit though
