I'm going to buy a laptop, but I have no idea of choosing between Xp or vista.
I will not gonna choose mac or other computers but these two.

Also, one of my friend said that Vista isn't safe enough, he said your files in Vista can be shown by the main computer in the Windows company......:confused::confused:

Here are my limitations for my new computer:
1.can play at least two online games (or 1):)
2.Fast:p
3.Good looking.:shades:
4.It could be Asus, Acer, or Eee pc.
5.It has to be small, I love small laptops.

It would be useful if you have some pics.

And please tell me about the prices of laptop, you may tell the lowest price for new ones (in dollars, of course)

And finally, thanks for all.:D

well if you buy vista now, then you get the free upgrade to windows 7 when it comes out in late-october, and it looks prettier then windows XP, but other then that XP beats it as far as the other categories.. and about the security.. vista is more secure then XP... and the "main computer in the windows company"... windows is made by Microsoft, and im pretty sure they have a ton of computers, but no "main" one as far as im aware of.. more likely just a cluster of servers

Vista with SP2 works just fine. Yes Vista had some pretty big glitches when it came out. And as mentioned many retailers are offering upgrades to Windows 7 if you buy Vista now.

XP makes no sense now unless you really need to run old programs.

And your friend is crazy. Tell him to adjust his tinfoil hat.

I agree on 2GB or more. A new computer you would buy now would have at least that (except for netbooks- I think many of those stilll come with XP)

It was never seriously designed to run on yesterday's hardware but it will make much better use of newer hardware.

Before going on, I have chosen Vista. Thanks

Now let's moving on, you guys didn't tell me which brand of laptops shall I choose.

For myself, I prefer Eee pc (small) or Acer and Asus (light)

SMALL means I would like a small one, and...
LIGHT means I would like to have a light weight laptop, Im not that strong.

I personally like Acer laptops. What is your price range? Someone could recommend you a good laptop.

VISTA? WTF?

I downgraded mine to XP... Vista are for people who don't play games and need to use up the ram they probably can't fill up.

In other words, XP FTW!

Eee PC is okay. Nothing bad about it. Well, except that my Eee laptop has a few missing keys. And camera doesn't function too :-\

Windows 7. I haven't stopped using it since I dual booted it with my XP.

Vista is much better than Xp in every way.

I suggest you wait for Windows 7, though. Which will be even better.

I also suggest you get a laptop from HP, they do quality stuff.
Unlike the others. :p

Vista cuz you wont want XP once 7 is out, which is only a couple of months away.

And you wont be doing any gaming on an EEE PC.

Make sure you're getting a Windows 7 upgrade. Beyond that you're fine.

That's already been done...it's been open beta and RC for like over a year.

And I haven't ran into an error after my months of using it.

Wait for Win7. Almost as efficient as XP, and better-looking, secure, and just plain better than Vista.

It. Is. Better.

By efficient, I meant that Win7 uses slightly more system resources than XP. However, if you ask me, it's well worth it. :)
Right now, I use Vista and I think despite its increased system resources, it's better than XP.

Windows 7 > Vista. It has Vista features but higher performance. I don't think netbook can run vista smoothly, but windows 7 can run on them without performance issue.
