His interpretation of the question's wording isn't founded unless the the passage was refering to a single flood, which, based of the small bit you gave us, was not because it was noting that the flood can be aided by several factors, not that the flood WAS aided by them.
It's obvious it happens naturally, except those times humans cause them /sarcasm. But why exactly?
