Set Value to a Global

So, I just started learning JASS today so I have some (probably) very noobish questions :p

First is, how do i set a new value for a global variable?

And second what is wrong with this

JASS:

errors in:
if udg_global_HA == 0 then call CustomDefeatBJ( Player(0), "TRIGSTR_005" )
if udg_global_OA == 0 then call CustomDefeatBJ( Player(1), "TRIGSTR_005" )

HA and OA are integers with no array.

Please don't be mad if i ask very noobish questions :confused::confused:

globals are declared

JASS:
globals
    integer i
    unit u
    ....
endglobals


setting a variable is simply:
JASS:
set varname = stuff

if the variable is a GUI global dont forget the udg_ prefix

you are missing the endif in you if statements:

JASS:
if stuff then
   actions
endif


or

JASS:
if stuff then
    actions
else
    actions
endif

i added the
JASS:
endif


but it still says
Code:
"Expected a name"

and when i tried to set those globals it says
Code:
Expected a code statement

what am i doing wrong??:confused:

i have NewGen... but it ain't helping a bit when it just tells me the error name, not how to fix it...

i'm not that dumb.. :D i added endif to the end of both lines but it just tells me "Expected a name"

can you just post what you have now?

EDIT: Hmm wait what are your variables called? global_HA and global_AO ? or just HA and HO? cause the only prefix that globals have is udg_ not global_

globals are not declared inside functions, they are declared outside (they can however be declared inside libraries and scopes), and i dont see you declaring udg_global_HA anywhere.

i read like 3 tutorials of starting JASS and don't remember seen words "libraries / scopes" anytime...

^Firstly I'm trying to check if udg_global_HA / OA is not equal to 1
ERROR ---> "Comparing two variables of different primitives is not allowed!
^And then there is endif
ERROR ---> "Missing linebreak before endif"
^And some other errors
ERROR ---> "Missing endfunction"
ERROR ---> "Syntax error"
ERROR ---> "Statement outside function"

im not sure about jass, but since you have no action end identifier, it might be that the script need line breaks at certain points. It does not matter where you declared the globals, i just did that in there because i needed the variables.

Just try adding the line breaks the same way i did.

Just wondering, are the variables HA and OA GUI globals ??? In that case it's just supposed to be only udg_HA and udg_OA, just remove the global_ and it should work :D

Nah. You actually can declare globals within functions... It's just bad practise.

As wellwisher pointed out, you cannot declare if then else blocks in a single line.

JASS:

if udg_global_OA != 1 then
    call CustomDefeatBJ( Player(1), "TRIGSTR_005" ) 
endif


Also, please indent your code properly and name your functions somewhat useful.

    I bought an Ender 3 during the pandemic and tinkered with it all the time. Just bought a Sovol, not as easy. I'm trying to make it use a different nozzle because I have a fuck ton of Volcanos, and they use what is basically a modified volcano that is just a smidge longer, and almost every part on this thing needs to be redone to make it work

So cool, new bracket to swap that, but THEN the fan shroud to direct air at the part is ALSO going to be .5mm to low, and so I need to redo that, but by doing that it is a little bit off where it should be blowing and it's throwing it at the heating block instead of the part, and fuck man

    I didn't realize they designed this entire thing to NOT be modded. I would have just got a fucking Bambu if I knew that, the whole point was I could fuck with this. And no one else makes shit for Sovol so I have to go through them, and they have... interesting pricing models. So I have a new extruder altogether that I'm taking apart and going to just design a whole new one to use my nozzles. Dumb design.

    Can't just buy a new heatblock, you need to get a whole hotend - so block, heater cartridge, thermistor, heatbreak, and nozzle. And they put this fucking paste in there so I can't take the thermistor or cartridge out with any ease, that's 30 dollars. Or you can get the whole extrudor with the direct driver AND that heatblock for like 50, but you still can't get any of it to come apart
