Jass Errors

I'm super noob at jass.. I've read a couple tutorials and such but I can't get ANYthing to work for me.. If I put a code snippet into worldedit it errors on every line.. I've tried putting it every where.. anyone have a good tutorial or a simple fixe they can let me know about.. I'm probably just doing something wrong or not doing something where I need to.

Are you using a Mac? 1.24 killed the trigger editor in the Mac World Editor but it can be mostly fixed: see my post here.

Are you on a PC, and are you copying vJASS code? If so, you'll need to download the NewGen pack.

If your problem isn't caused by one of those, you'll have to be more specific about what you're trying to do that isn't working.

I'm using windows and I have the latest newjass pack. I read one tutorial that ran me through setting up cjass, jasshelper and all that stuff.. I can't seem to get the simplest stuff to work.. I used to program a looong time ago but this stumps me so far.

I'm not even trying to test the map yet.. I hit the syntax check and everything I try errors. The only time I can get anything to work is if I put up empty functions.

Most people here don't use cJass.
I recommend you download NewGen, extract it to a random folder that isn't your WC3 folder, and try running it.

Edit:
Make sure the default syntax checker is disabled in the editor, one of the options in the menu on the "File, Edit, etc" bar.

If your using vJASS, you need to save it so it can compile.
And don't bother with the syntax checker. It'll show you any errors when you save.

if you need to check your map for errors, you need to save the map.
there are also some options you can check or uncheck that do some stuff about that. also, for general help about coding in jass if you haven't read it already i'd read this tutorial to get you started.

also, i recommend importing anything and everything workable into your map. and ax it out after you code with it. you should have a testing map or testing functions in your primary map where you test and test and code and code. learning from examples is really great.
