more spell help please :)

okay, so im looking for some help to make a spell like Venomancers (DotA) spell called venomous gale. see here

but instead of poison i want the spell to be fire based, like the missle is a searing arrow and the units that are hit will be burning. is that possible? if its not ill settle for the poison attack. thanks in advance :)

Releases a Venomous Gale which poisons enemy units it comes in contact with. Poisoned units take initial damage, damage over time, and have their movement speed slowed for a short duration.
Level 1 - 50 strike damage, 10 duration damage, lasts 15 seconds.
Level 2 - 70 strike damage, 20 duration damage, lasts 15 seconds.
Level 3 - 70 strike damage, 40 duration damage, lasts 15 seconds.
Level 4 - 100 strike damage, 50 duration damage, lasts 15 seconds.

Do you want advice on how to make it?

Or someone to make it for you?

I'm happy to give advice if that's what you want, but I don't feel like triggering it myself atm.

i would very much aprieciate advice, also i dont need the movement speed decrease, just to make it a bit simpler

and i would apreciate it if u could tell me how to make it like i asked before. (fire based)

Ok then I'll do my best.

First of all we want the base ability. Call it what you will but base it off the ability Channel. This ability has quite a few fields, but make sure that under Data - Options it is Visible and under Data - Target Type it is Point or Unit target. Give it a 0 second follow through time and a 0 second casting time.

Now for the animation of the spell, we have a few options. One of them is to make a custom unit with the model of Shadow Strike and abilities Locust and Invulnerable. This is probably the easiest way to make an animation move, but it will also cap the speed at 522 unless we move it step by step.

Now to the triggers (freehand atm)..

We want an initial trigger that has the Event - A unit starts the effect of an ability.
Condition would be that the ability is equal to Shadow Strike
Action - Create Your_Custom_Unit at Position of Triggering Unit
Order last created unit to move to point (target point of ability being cast)
Trigger turn on Other Trigger.

Very simple. If you want to replace the Move command you can animate the movement every 0.1 seconds, but thats easy enough if you know how.

The other trigger will be something like

Event - Every 0.1 seconds of game time
Action - Set Temp_Group to Units within 100 of Your_Custom_Unit matching (Matching unit is an enemy of owner of Custom_Unit)
Pick all units in Temp_Group and do Actions
Set life of Picked unit equal to life of picked unit - 200

That's the basic idea of the trigger. To make them burning its probably easiest to use buffs, although you could add a special effect to them.

Also, there may be a different and possibly easier way to do this. I'm just telling you my idea.

uhh i think u might have made a mistake (correct me if im wrong):

u said in the first trigger, for the condition : ability being cast equal to Shadow strike. i think u mean to say the custom ability i made? the one based off channel?

okay do i found the action.. but sorry to say that ur trigger isnt working, the damage doesnt work and the shadow strike thingo goes to the target then stops there are doesnt dissapear, so i added in a destroy action now theres no missle at all . can u try to do this urself? or is anybody else willing to help me make this spell? (no vjass)

edit: the reason the damage wasnt working is because i added in the delete, but because the missle just stays there the targets get damaged over and over get killing them in like 3 seconds ><

ill try to fix it

No his trigger is ok, just the temp group needs to have things such as more conditions as it the unit is alive, and it is an enemy of the caster but other than that it is good. Icefrogs spells are all done in Vjass or Jass and are very difficult. If you cannot understand the easy way to do it...which is what he said you cannot make this spell sorry =\.
