Plz Help with Battle Field 1942 installation

When i try to install my Battle field 1942 (after i enter my cd key), i get 2 pop ups that dont let me do it.

1) String MSGBOX_NO_DDRAW_NO_VERSION was not found in the string table

2)MSGBOX_NO_DDRAW_NO_VERSION(DX SETUP)

I have no idea wat that means. Someone plz help me on how to correct it. Thnx.
 
Actually no thax i already figured it out but how long does it take for ur game to load?. (the single player missions, how long does it take ur com. to load it)
 
That will depend or your mahine specs. It should load in under 1 minute.
 
sounds similar to the directx get version error.
Maybe this will help...

How to handle a DirectXSetupGetVersion Error:

Usually when I see this error, the computer had a previous
version of Windows installed, and XP was installed on top
of the older version of Windows instead of a clean install.

As a result the setup file which the game's installer looks for
doesn't exist in the location where it's searching.

There's a way to correct this issue without reinstalling XP:

Download and install the *Complete* DirectX 9.0b from:
http://download.microsoft.com/downl...date_redist.exe

*Antivirus / Firewalls can corrupt the download and installation,
it's highly recommended you disable them during this process.

After you install DirectX, reboot your computer and try
installing the game again. If you still get the same error:

1. Search your hard drive for dsetup.dll

2. Right click each instance of the file listed / select Properties
until you find one that is version # 4.9.0.902 or 4.09.00.0902
Right click and Copy that file, we're going to paste it in Step 3.

3. Go to c:\Windows\system32, rename dsetup.dll to dsetup.old if
it exists, and then Paste the file we copied in step two into the folder.

4. Reboot, and install the game again. If you still get the error
double-check that the file was copies properly in step 3.

Perhaps this should be stickied in the BF1942 resource forum? It seems alot of people have been having this problem.
 
same I have this problem and I mnight try this only solution I found ><
 
It is definitely a CD-ROM error. I bougth an original BF-Vietnam and had the same error.

then I copied the CD no. 1 (only this one) and started the installation with this and everything worked fine.

i hope i didn't do anything illegal with that copy ^^

    this is the fix I get from that yeah this is hard to control. disabling bots is pretty much necessary as ai and other bots would push really old threads to the top. reduce weight of view count. disable guest view tracking if you really want to push active threads to the top. a bit of tinkering for a few days with the weights and other settings should get you a decent trending widget box.

    One thing I have noticed and I dont know if it is by design but like 1 out of 3 times I come to the site the Anubis screen just hangs open, if I refresh it will go away but sometimes it hangs

    Wow - the change in the stats are major. I kind of knew it was all bots but wow, to see the effect. Why the social media sites cant do something like this I have no idea.

    Yeah google does not filter those bots. I remember when Apex was doing Google ads I saw the same IPs in there as I was seeing here - google is totally tracking all those bots as traffic and most google traffic, at least ours, was all bots
